Here’s a list of a few opportunities to get out and about this weekend in & beyond Shippensburg! This is not meant to be a complete list.
2015 STEM Festival at Hagerstown Community College Saturday, April 11th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Science exhibits, Hands-on activities and competitions for students in K-12, Anti-gravity moon bounce, Recycled materials art show, Musical performances on recycled-material instruments. FREE Admission and Parking. Concessions available for purchase.
Hersheypark “Springtime In The Park” is being held again on April 11th – 12th! It is an annual event that allows guests to preview the rides, live entertainment, and everything the park offers before it officially opens for the summer. Tickets are available online to save you time once you get to the park. Discount “Springtime In The Park” tickets are also available at participating Giant Food Stores in Central PA. “Springtime In The Park” Parking Fee is $8.00 for regular passenger vehicles.
On Saturday, April 11th at 10 am, children will build a See-It-Grow Planter at Lowe’s Build & Grow Clinic! This children’s event is FREE and fun. This event is currently full if you did not already register.
Kid’s Closet Connection-Franklin County, PA‘s Spring/Summer Sales Event at the Norlo Park Barn, 3050 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville, PA. Hours: Friday April 10th 9:00am – 7:00pm; Saturday April 11th 9:00am – 5:00pm; Sunday April 12th 10:00am – 2:00 pm **most items 1/2 off. Gently used clothing from infant to teen sizes at 60 -90% off retail prices. In addition you will find toys, baby equipment, games, movies, shoes, sporting equipment, and more.
Shippensburg University-Spring Band Concert on 3:00 pm Luhrs Performing Arts Center. The Shippensburg University Band is comprised of non-music majors. Free admission. No ticket required.
Cumberland Drive-In Theatre, 3290 Ritner Highway, Newville Friday & Saturday, April 10th & 11th First Feature: Fast & Furious 7 (PG-13) Second Feature: The Divergent Series: Insurgent (PG-13) Gates open at 7 p.m. First feature begins at approximately 7:50 p.m.
Chambersburg Hispanic American Center is hosting their annual Kite Fest on Saturday, April 11 from 1 pm – 5 pm at Nitterhouse Memorial Park, 296 W. Washington Street, Chambersburg. Food available at Concession Stand. Information tables with fun science/math projects! The event is free and the first 50 families to arrive will receive free kites! All are welcome to attend.
Renfrew Institute’s annual kite Fun Fly that will be held from to 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 11th behind the museum house at Renfrew Park in Waynesboro. The event is open to all ages and there is no fee for flying. Participants should bring their own kites. In addition, there will be a kite-making workshop from noon to 1:30 p.m. The cost is a $1 donation to cover materials. The event is free and is open to people of all ages.
Michaels has a Kids Club every Saturday from 10 am – Noon for ages 3 and up. For $2 your child can make a seasonal craft for 30 minutes while you shop! On Saturday, April 11 the craft will be a Lady Bug Clay Pot.
April Showers Brings May Flowers Kids Class at SHAPE gallery, 20 West King Street, Shippensburg on April 11th from 10 am – 11:30 am; $15.00 members/$20.00 non-members; Grades 1-5; Create a flowery work of art using collage!
PBR Family Event 2015 at Bass Pro Shops. On Sat. April 11 & Sun. April 12 Noon – 4 pm kids can participate in the following activities: Stick horse riding & bullhead roping, craft & face painting like “Flint the Entertainer”. On Sunday ONLY ~ Enter the Best Dressed Cowboy/Cowgirl Contest for a chance to win a $50 gift card! The first 100 customers each day will receive a plastic tumbler.
Shippensburg University Red Raider Football will be hosting a Red-White Game on April 11th at Seth Grove Stadium at NOON. Admission is free for all fans, Tailgating is permitted before the game, Red Raider Marching Band will perform, Concession stands open at both ends, Helmet raffle.
Help celebrate National Library Week! From April 12th to April 18th, eat at Arooga’s Shippensburg, CJ’s, Knute’s, or University Grille to support the Shippensburg Public Library‘s “All Grilles on Board” event where a portion of the restaurants sales will go towards the Library’s Capital Campaign. Just show up – no coupon needed.
