Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in & beyond Shippensburg!

IN SHIPPENSBURG

The Drew Michael Taylor Foundation’s Family Fun Carnival and Splash Party takes place at Shippensburg Memorial Park/Pool at 100 Park Place, Shippensburg on Friday night, June 26th from 6-9 p.m. $10 wristband for anyone that’s playing (Phantom Shadow inflatables or swimming at the pool). All kids/teens coming to this event need an accompanying adult to sign a waiver for them and they should be supervised throughout the evening.

Lowe’s Build & Grow is having their next Build & Grow event on Saturday, June 27th at 10 am.  Bring your child to Lowe’s and they can build a Captain America Motorcycle.  This event is full is you haven’t already registered.

BEYOND SHIPPENSBURG

South Newton Twp. Vol. Fire Company #49 Annual Fireman’s Fair will be held on June 25th, June 26th, & June 27th from 4pm – 10:30pm at 16 Firehouse Rd, Walnut Bottom. 4H Petting Zoo, Bands, Bingo/Small Games of Chance, Homemade Food, $10 Ride All Night Inflatables, Fireworks Display after dark on Saturday, 6/27 (UPDATE: Due to the forecasted weather the Fireworks scheduled for Saturday night has been rescheduled for Friday night).

The 4th Annual Roxbury Bull Ride will be held at Lions Park, 13978 Cumberland Highway at 7 pm. International Bull Riders Association-sanctioned bull riders and 60 bulls will be featured at the show on June 27th. Tickets to the show cost $20 for adults, $15 for ages 6 to 12. Admission is free to ages 5 and younger. The Bull Ride is the finale to the Roxbury Fair. (UPDATE:  This event has been postponed until fall.)

A Miniature Train rides the rails at Norlo Park, 3050 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville on Saturdays. It is open to riders of all ages. The train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride on Saturdays weather permitting from 1 PM to 4 PM throughout Summer & Fall!

For 38 years, Carlisle Summerfair has been providing family friendly events to the public around the 4th of July holiday.  The annual festival runs Thursday, June 25 through Sunday, July 5.  Enjoy a wide variety of events, including baby racing, walking tours, fishing derby, children’s art activities, open pool night, craft show, dancing, scavenger hunt, concerts & more.  Download the entire schedule HERE. Most of the events are free, but some ask for a donation.  Fireworks will be July 4, 2015 at 9:30pm at Carlisle Fairgrounds, 1000 Bryn Mawr Rd.

The Family Outdoor Expo at Cowans Gap, 6235 Aughwick Road, Fort Loudon will be held Saturday, June 20th. Some of the activities will include paddle board, kayaking, disk golf, fishing, tracking, orienteering, plant walks, survival skills and more! Please stop by the Brightbill Interpretive Center that day for a schedule of events. Pre-registration is required for the paddleboard and kayaking programs. Please contact the park office at (717)485-3948 to register. (UPDATE:  This event is CANCELLED due to Saturday’s rain).

Marion Festival’s final night is Saturday is June 27th.  Food, Games, Rides.   Kitchen Opens at 4:30 P.M. Free entertainment.

June 27th & 28th are Dino Days at Clyde Peeling’s Reptiland,18628 US Route 15 Allenwood, PA 17810.  Dr. Dino, a paleontologist and all-around dino expert, will be the special guest for this fun and educational event. Accompany him on a dinosaur hunt, then check out his extensive collection of REAL fossils and artifacts. This event is included in the cost of general admission.

North Square Farmers Market, 50 N. Main Street, Saturday, June 27th from 8 a.m. to noon.  Over twenty local vendors will offer local produce as well as cheeses, breads, fresh-cut flowers, baked goods, handmade soaps, & MORE. Children ages 3 -12 can sign up for POP (Power of Produce) Club.  Members receive $2 in tokens per market visit to be used on produce or vegetable plant.

Michael’s Kids Club is every Saturday from 10 am – Noon for ages 3 and up. For $2 your child can make a seasonal craft for 30 minutes while you shop!  On Saturday, June 27th the children will be making a Pie Tic-Tac-Toe Game. Sign up at Classes & Events | Michaels Stores.
