Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in Shippensburg and Beyond!

Shippensburg

Three Dog Night will perform Sat, January 30, 2016 – 8:00pm H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center. Tickets:  $59, $55, $49 & $44.

Tractor Supply holds affordable Pet Vaccine Clinics inside their stores for your dog, cat, puppy or kitten.  On January 30th, times are 10:00 am – 11:30 am at the Chambersburg store, 1733 Lincoln Way East or 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm at the Shippensburg store, 40 Shippensburg Shopping Cntr.  Find other locations by typing your zip HERE.  No appointment needed, just show up during clinic hours.  No office fee.

The Local Gathering is hosting Silly Saturdays with Weird Animals. 10:15 registration: 10:30am-12:30pm Bible Time; Craft; Lunch; and Games. Ages 3 years to Fifth grade; Parent/Guardian must also attend with child(ren).  The whole family is welcome. The Local Gathering is located at 611 Shippensburg Rd (RT696 3 miles past the University).  

Roxbury

The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641.  The roller skating rink is open for public skating on Friday evenings from 7-9 PM Admission is only $3 and skate rentals are $1.  Kids 6 and under are FREE and non-skating adults are FREE.

Chambersburg

Icefest will be held January 28 – January 31, 2016 throughout downtown Chambersburg.  It will feature over 70 custom designed ice sculptures.  Activities this year include sliding down the free Double-Wide Ice Slide, ballroom dancing at the Snowfall Ball, chili tasting at the chili cook-off, cake viewing and tasting at Icing on the Cake, 5K Run & Kid’s Zone, Polar Dunk Plunge, Frozen Flicks, and more!  Most activities are FREE. The Futurist: Adam Trent (Star of the Broadway hit show The Illusionists and the #1 selling magic show in the world) will perform on Sat, January 30 – 7:00pm at The Capitol Theatre, 159 S. Main St., Chambersburg.  Trent blends dancing and singing to his own original pop music with innovative stage illusions and charming wit to create an experience that is part magic show, part concert and part stand-up comedy. Dunks for Drew is a basketball fundraiser for the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation.  On Jan. 30, the members of Chambersburg, Greencastle-Antrim, Gettysburg and Shippensburg boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams will take the court as part of their regular season lineups.  Chambersburg Area Senior High School gymnasium, 511 S. 6th St., Chambersburg; 3 p.m., Gettysburg vs. Shippensburg varsity girls; 4:30 p.m. Gettysburg vs. Shippensburg varsity boys; 6 p.m., Greencastle Antrim vs. Chambersburg varsity girls; 7:30 p.m., Greencastle Antrim vs. Chambersburg varsity boys; admission $5, no passes accepted.

Greene Township Municipal Park, 996 Elevator Street, Scotland has a 50′ by 97′ outdoor ice skating rink to enjoy over the winter months. Skating is FREE and done at one’s own risk. Participants must bring their own skates.  Use of the rink will be open daily to the public from dawn to dusk.  The outdoor skating rink is weather and temperature dependent, so please visit HERE for daily updates.  The park has great hills for sledding too!

Greencastle

Winter Bounce Festival

The Winter Bounce Festival with Phantom Shadow Entertainment will take place at Green Grove Gardens inside the Grand Barn at 1032 Buchanan Trail East, Greencastle.  On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, January 29 – 31,  children 12 and younger will be allowed to bounce, slide, jump and play on the inflatables (socks are required).  There will be one or two inflatables for toddlers 3 years-old and younger only.  Children can stay and play as long as they would like on the day you choose to come. Hours for the Winter Bounce Fest:  Friday 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM; Saturday 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM; Sunday 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM Walk-In Pricing:  $10.00 for Children 12 & under ($8 on Fridays); $5.00 for Children 2 & under

York

This weekend, Jan 29-31, visit the Home & Garden Show at York Expo Center, 334 Carlisle Ave, York.  Home and garden enthusiasts will delight in stunning gardens and a design showcase featuring the latest and greatest. More than 150 companies will be on hand to help make home and garden dreams a reality. Dates and Times: Fri, Jan 29  1:00 pm – 9:00 pm; Sat, Jan 30  10:00 am – 8:00 pm; Sun, Jan 31  11:00 am – 4:00 pm. Adults:  Only $8.00 Children Under 18 FREE. Free Parking.

Harrisburg

Zoo America logo

Zoo America has $5.50 Fridays where all visitors get in for $5.50 every Friday during the winter through March 18, 2016.  Admission is regularly $11 per person for ages 9-54, $9 for ages 3-8 & 55+, and free for ages 2 and under. ZooAmerica’s free Community Weekend will be held January 30 & 31, 2016.  Admission is FREE to everyone visiting this weekend from 10 AM – 4:30 PM both days.  You may park free in the Zoo’s parking lot.  There is also free parking at the parking garage on Chocolate Avenue and a tunnel for you to safely travel under the road to the zoo.

New cars, trucks and SUVs will fill the PA Farm Show Complex & Expo Center for the 2016 Pennsylvania Auto Show beginning January 28 through January 31, 2016. You can also stop by the Powersports Hall to see boats, personal watercraft, motorcycles, ATVs, and more. On Friday and Saturday there will be a kids entertainment area with an inflatable slide and moonbounce, plus face painting and animal balloons. Read more Here.
