Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in Shippensburg and Beyond!

Shippensburg

Joe Nichols, country artist and 4x Grammy nominee, will be at the Luhrs Center on Saturday, February 13th 8 pm.  Tickets:  $65, $60, $55 & $50

The Book Nook at the Shippensburg Public Library has all children’s books buy one get one free in February. Also any library discards are $.75 each. The books are gently used and/or library discards. Go here for hours of operation.

Roxbury

The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641.  The roller skating rink is open for public skating on Friday evenings from 7-9 PM Admission is only $3 and skate rentals are $1.  Kids 6 and under are FREE and non-skating adults are FREE.

Shady Grove

Indoor Yard Sales Saturday, Feb 13 at Shady Grove Community Center, 2100 Buchanan Trail East, 8 am until 3 pm.  Admission is free.ADMISSION IS FREE

Chambersburg

moonlight skate ice

Greene Township Park,  996 Elevator Street, Scotland is hosting a Moonlight Skate on Friday, February 12, 2016.   Get outside and enjoy the park’s ice skating rink in an evening filled with skating, music, and hot chocolate!  From 6 pm to 8 pm, there will be a Free Skate.  Afterwards, from 8:30 pm – 10 pm, there will be Hockey.  Skating is done at one’s own risk. Participants must bring their own skates.

Lititz

Lititz Fire & Ice Festival Friday, Feb. 12th: Party in the Park and Downtown Block Party from 5-9PM at Lititz Spring Park/Downtown Lititz Feb. 13th: Chili Cook Off/Winter Wonderland Carnival/Vendor Fair from 11-3PM at Warwick High School Feb. 14th: Dodgeball Tournament from 1-5PM at Warwick High School; Community Movie Night at Linden Hall, Doors Open at 6pm, Movie Starts at 7pm Feb. 15th: Continue to enjoy the 50+ ice sculptures & take a stroll around Lititz

Gettysburg

for the love of chocolate

Adams County Winery Farm, 251 Peach Tree Rd. Orrtanna is holding For the Love of Chocolate on February 13 11:00 amFebruary 14 5:00 pm. Special tastings and pairings featuring the chocolate wine Entwine’d.  Enjoy the featured Petit Pairing : Three local handmade chocolates paired with a flight of three of your favorite Adams County Winery Wines.

A Gathering of Presidents will be held at the Lincoln Train Museum, 425 Steinwehr Ave. Gettysburg.  On February 14 celebrate President’s Day and the birth of Abraham Lincoln.  The museum opens at 10 am and President Lincoln and Grant will be in the museum from 10:30 – 4.  The Lincoln Train Museum is friendly for all ages with a large appeal to the children who love model trains.  There is a layout kids can operate. General admission: $7 per adult, $4 ages 6-12 $ 5 and under are free.

Harrisburg

The Great American Outdoor Show is a nine-day event (Feb 6 – 14) celebrating hunting, fishing, and outdoor traditions. The show features over 1,000 exhibitors ranging from shooting manufacturers to outfitters to fishing boats and RVs, archery and art. The schedule includes country concerts, fundraising dinners, speaking events, archery competitions, and more. 10am-7pm on Feb 8-12, 9am-7pm on Feb 13, and 10am-5pm on Feb 14. Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center, Harrisburg.

Lancaster

At Strasburg Railroad, 301 Gap Road, Ronks you may ride aboard the Open Air Car as the train pulls you through the February air!  Bring a scarf, mittens, and wear layers as you climb aboard the Long John Limited Open Air Car. Warm coach cars will also be available. Hot chocolate will be supplied. February 13  – Noon, 1pm, 2pm. For tickets and more information go here!

Hershey

Zoo America has $5.50 Fridays where all visitors get in for $5.50 every Friday during the winter through March 18, 2016.  Admission is regularly $11 per person for ages 9-54, $9 for ages 3-8 & 55+, and free for ages 2 and under.

Huntingdon

Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks, 7703 William Penn Drive Huntingdon, is holding their annual Batfest 2016 February 13 10am-3:30pm.  Attendees may warm up in 52-degree cavern comfort and observe bats. Workshops will be available for all ages. Offerings will include a visit from wildlife rehabilitator Robyn Graboski and bat Betsy, games, crafts, and a pizza lunch. Advance tickets are required.
