Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in Shippensburg and Beyond!

Shippensburg

A Spaghetti Dinner benefiting Better Days Animal League will be held Friday, April 1 at Memorial Lutheran Church (Corner of Penn & Orange St) 5 PM – 7 PM. Dinner includes: Spaghetti, mixed fruit, tossed salad, garlic bread, dessert and beverage. Adults $7, Children $5. Eat in or Take Out.

The Local Gathering, 611 Shippensburg Rd., is hosting Leslie McKee, a Christian recording artist on Friday, April 1 7pm – 10 pm.  JB Usher will also be performing with her. Doors open at 6PM. Feel free to bring your supper along or call out.

Opening Reception on April 1, 2016 at SHAPE, 19 East King St, from 6-8 pm with refreshments.   View the paintings of Satsvarupa, a Hare Krishna monk whose art has challenged the establishment. Satsvarupa has exhibited in Washington D.C., and New York City as well as many other galleries.

2016 Spring Gala “It’s All About the Books” will be held Saturday April 2, 2016 6:30 in the Beistle Ballroom.  An evening of dinner, dancing, and a silent auction. Live music provided by “Escavie”. All proceeds benefit Shippensburg Public Library Black Tie Optional.  Ticket Cost $75.00

On Saturday, April 2 7:30 pm, the Million Dollar Quartet will be at Luhrs Center.  A Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, inspired by the true story of the famed recording session where Sam Phillips, brought together icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for one unforgettable night. This musical brings you inside the recording studio for a night of rock and roll, featuring 21 timeless hits.

The annual Children’s Fair will be held on Saturday, April 2 from 10 am – 2 pm at Heiges Field House on the campus of Shippensburg University. FREE Admission. Carnival Game tickets are $.25. Each game requires 1 or 2 tickets. Food and T-shirts ($2) will be available for purchase. The Shippensburg University Career and Community Engagement Center (CCEC) is hosting the 34th Annual Children’s Fair.  The event is geared towards children ages 1 – 12.  The fair will offer photos, balloons, prizes, games, educational displays, and entertainment. All proceeds will be used to cover the costs for the following year’s fair. Parental Supervision is required.

Newburg

On April 2, 2016, a Flea Market, Craft Vendor, and Yard Sale will be hosted at the Newburg Hopewell Firehouse, 121 Lovers Lane, Newburg  8 AM.

Mowersville Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction will be held Saturday, April 2 at 14924 West Creek Road, Newburg.  The dinner and auction benefits the Tuition Assistance Fund and Student Convention. Bidding: April 1st (6-8pm) & April 2nd (2-6pm) Dinner: April 2nd (4-8pm) Dinner is all-you-can-eat. Adults $8.00; Children (5-10) $4.00.

Newville

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre, 3290 Ritner Highway, Newville, is opened for their 64th season! Friday – Saturday April 1 & April 2 Gates open at 7 pm.  First features begins at approximately 7:50 pm.  First Feature: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (PG-13) Second Feature:  10 Cloverfield Lane (PG-13) $ 8 Adults;

Roxbury

The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641.  The roller skating rink is open for public skating this Friday, March 25th from 7-9 PM Admission is only $3 and skate rentals are $1.  Kids 6 and under are FREE and non-skating adults are FREE.

Chambersburg

The fourth annual St. Paul Spring Arts & Craft Show will be held on Saturday, April 2, from 9 AM – 2 PM in the Family Life Center, 750 Norland Ave., Chambersburg.  Admission is free.  There will be crafters, artists, and authors selling a wide variety of specialty items such as spoon jewelry, quilted handbags, cat and Holocaust books, handmade cards and boxes, pepper jelly, crocheted items, scarves, homemade dog treats and toys, children’s cloth books, blankets, and pillows, quilts, art cards and prints, and many other handmade items.

On Friday, April 1 & Saturday, April 2 8 am – 1pm there will be an Indoor yard sale & home-based business showcase hosted by Chambersburg Recreation Center, 235 S 3rd St., Chambersburg.

Waynesboro

Paul’s Country Market is having a Spring Open House Saturday, April 2 8:30 – 4 pm.  FREE refreshments, FREE Flower for every customer, FREE Samples, FREE Ice Cream.  Paul’s is located on Rt 316 & 6374 Nunnery Road, Waynesboro.

Greencastle

Spring Fling Vendor Fair will be held Saturday, April 2 9 am at Blue Heron, 407 S Washington St, Greencastle.  Come out to shop many vendors for Mother’s Day.  FREE admission, door prizes, raffles and food concessions by Blue Heron. Vendor Fair to benefit the local food pantries. Feel free to bring canned good donations.

Pro BBQ

2016 Open House and Ironman BBQ Competition will be held April 2 at Mason Dixon BBQ Services.  The event runs 9 am – 4 pm.  Free BBQ Samples all day.  There will be 10 – 50% off everything in store (excludes Backwood Smokers).

Ft. Loudon

On Sunday, April 3, 2016 2:00PM, join the Friends of Cowans Gap for the second annual Cowans Gap 5K Run/Walk. Register HERE.  The Friends of Cowans Gap is a non-profit organization made up of dedicated volunteers and community members with a goal to enhance the Park.

Hershey

Hershey Park Tickets at Giant-001

Hersheypark “Springtime in the Park” is being held two weekends in April 2016! It is an annual event that allows guests to preview the rides, live entertainment, and everything the park offers before it officially opens for the summer (not all rides will be open). Tickets cost about half of what you would pay on a regular day. All “Springtime In The Park” rides and entertainment are included in your one-price admission. Discount “Springtime In The Park” tickets are available at participating Giant Food Stores in Central PA. At Giant, “Springtime in the Park” Regular (ages 9 -54) tickets are $30.80 and Junior (ages 3-8) & Seniors (ages 55 and over) tickets are both $21.80. Children 0 – 2 are free. “Springtime In The Park” Parking Fee is $8.00 for regular passenger vehicles.

Westminster, MD

The 9th Annual Marshmallow Peep show continue through Wednesday,  April 6 at Carroll Arts Center, 91 W. Main St., Westminster, MD. The PEEPshow is open 10 am – 7 pm (including Easter Sunday).  Admission is FREE but visitors may buy voting chips to vote for your favorite display. Enjoy PEEP treats and souvenirs including official Peeps & Co merchandise in the gift shop!  The line forms outdoors so be prepared for the weather. Expect to spend 45- 90 minutes enjoying the displays.
