Shippensburg
The Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 2nd annual Bloom Festival in downtown Shippensburg on May 14th 9 AM – 3 PM! The Festival takes place in the Borough Parking lot (Burd Street), across from the Shippensburg Police Department. Admission is FREE and there will be free parking at the Shippensburg Firefighter Activity Center. This is a Rain or Shine event. The festival includes children’s activities, music, crafts, retail & food vendors, local produce & floral sales, and more! The children’s area will close at 2 PM.
The Shippensburg Downtown Organizations Investing Together (D.O.I.T.) group announced plans to host a Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest. The contest will be held the day of the festival, May 14th 8 AM – 3 PM. As a registered artist or group of two-three artists, participants will be given a square of sidewalk in downtown Shippensburg to work with. Squares will be assigned upon check-in on the morning of the event.
Also on this day, The Shippensburg Public Library Duck Derby will be held at 1 PM. The rubber ducks will swim from the King Street Bridge toward the Burd Street Bridge. Pick up Duck Certificates at the Public Library. 1 duck for $5 and a 6-pack for $20. Cash prizes of $250, $100 and $50 will be awarded!
SHAPE’s 11th Annual Member Exhibit continues this week. Come see artwork from over 20 different artists. Wednesday to Friday – 4 to 7 pm; Saturday – 11 am to 4 pm.
The Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter will hold their fifth annual “Hike for the Homeless Pets” from 9 AM to noon, Saturday, May 14, on the Dykeman Trail. The hike will start at the First Assembly of God Church, 420 Baltimore Road, and continue through two and a half miles of country settings and woods. There will also be a course through town for those who would prefer. Registration begins at 9 AM, with the hike starting at 10 AM, rain or shine. Canine contests will start at approximately 11:30 and will include Best Kisser, Best Talker, Best Trick, Best Costume and Best Owner/Dog Look-a-Like. Proceeds will benefit the Second Chance Fund at the shelter. Sponsorship forms can be downloaded here.
Tractor Supply in Shippensburg is hosting “Get Growing,” a five day gardening event May 11 through May 15. On Saturday, May 14, the Get Growing event will feature community groups and activities including a Tractor Show. During the free Get Growing event, kids will learn how to plant a seed and then can take it home and watch it grow.
Shippensburg Public Library, 75 W. King St., is having an Open House May 15th 2 PM – 4 PM. See recently completed renovations, view plans for next phase, and enjoy refreshments. The Book Nook operated by Friends of the Shippensburg Public Library is hosting Anniversary Week sale through May 21.
Newville
Cumberland Drive-In Theatre, 3290 Ritner Highway, Newville, is open Friday – Saturday, May 13 & May 14. Gates open at 7 p.m. First features begins at approximately 8:30 p.m. First Feature: Captain America: Civil War Second Feature: The Huntsman: Winter’s War $8 Adults; $4 Children 3-12; FREE for Children Under 3. Sunday, May 15 – Bonus Single Feature Captain America: Civil War. Sunday’s admission includes one free small soda OR small popcorn!
Roxbury
The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641. The roller skating rink is open for public skating this Friday, May 12 from 7-9 PM Admission is only $3 and skate rentals are $1. Kids 6 and under are FREE and non-skating adults are FREE.
Chambersburg
On Friday, May 13th, the Greene Township Park, 996 Elevator Street, Scotland will host a Spring Fling! The event will begin at 4 PM and feature 5 Bounce Houses, an inflatable Obstacle Course, Live Music by The Road Toads, Face Painting, Corn Hole, Craft Vendors and More! Greene Township Lions Club and Goose Bros. Ice Cream will have food & drink. Inflatable attractions will be illuminated until 10 pm. Admission into the inflatable attractions will be $5 for all-you-can-bounce fun.

Chambersburg 56th Annual Coin Show will be held May 15th 10 AM – 4 PM, Quality Inn at I-81 Exit 14 (Wayne Avenue). Buying, selling, trading coins and currency. Door Prizes, Free admission.
Mercersburg
Springfest a one-day festival in downtown Mercersburg will take place on May 13 9 AM – 3 PM. There will be a wide variety of crafters, artisans, jewelers, food vendors, civic groups, and local businesses that participate. “Kids Korner” will be on the Mercersburg Elementary campus, and will feature a moon bounce, a rock climbing wall, pony rides, a display of fire apparatus, face painting, games, crafts, and more. Speaks DJ will be providing music on the square.
Mechanicsburg
On Friday, May 13th 8 PM, Williams Grove Speedway,1 Speedway Dr, Mechanicsburg will have 410 Sprints World of Outlaws Tune Up Hoosier Diamon Series/358 Sprints Gate admission $15, Youth $10, Kids 12 and under FREE.
Waynesboro
The Hagerstown Regional Airport will host Breakfast and Lunch Fly-in, Drive-in on May 14. There will be Young Eagle plane rides, free to ages 8-17, 9 am – noon. FREE Young Eagle Rides are First Come, First Flown and will be held weather permitting. All you can eat Breakfast, 8 – 10:30 am; Pancakes, Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Toast, Coffee, Orange Juice. The price is Adults $7, Children 6-12 $4, 5 and under free. A la carte Lunch 11:00 am to 1:00 p.m. Hot dogs, Hamburgers, French Fries. Free parking for at the main terminal, Aircraft parking on apron next to Firehouse.
Gettysburg
The Gettyburg Bluegrass Festival is scheduled for May 12th-15th, 2016. Over two dozen artists are performing, offering workshops and entertaining. Granite Hill Camping Resort, Gettysburg.
Hershey
The Art on Chocolate, a fine arts and craft festival on May 14th 10 AM – 5 PM will include entertainment, vendors, children’s activities and more than 150 artists, craftsmen and food vendors.
