Shippensburg

The 11th Annual Drew Michael Taylor Foundation Family Fun Night and Splash Party will be held Friday, June 17 6PM – 9PM.  For a $10 wristband, participants will enjoy a full night of bouncing, climbing, sliding and swimming fun! All proceeds benefit the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation’s grief education and support programs which help local grieving families.

Middle Spring Presbyterian Church is holding their Annual Strawberry Festival on Friday, June 17th, starting at 5:00 p.m. Bring your friends and family to enjoy a low-cost meal where 100% of the proceeds benefit local missions. All the food is homemade, including pies and ice cream. Foods available for purchase include sandwiches (BBQ, chicken salad, and ham), soup (chicken corn and ham bean), hot dogs, chili dogs, homemade pies and homemade ice cream in a variety of flavors. The church is located at 135 Middle Spring Road, Shippensburg.

11th annual Solstice Arts Festival is scheduled for June 18th 9 AM – 4 PM, Shippensburg Township Park, 304 Britton Road.  Sponsored by Shippensburg Arts Programming and Education (SHAPE), the Festival features fine art, music, good food, children’s art activities and creative outlets for all ages.  Admittance is free to this family friendly event, and parking is also free.

Shippensburg Area EMS will host the Annual Safety Day this year on Saturday, June 18, 2016 10 AM – 3 PM.  The event will be held at Shippensburg Area Emergency Services Building, 711 E. Orange Street/20 Walnut Bottom Rd.  Rain or Shine.  Events & Activities on Safety Day include giveaways, child ID kits, ambulance, paramedic units & fire truck displays, health & safety information, ems/fire station tours, health screenings, Smith’s chicken barbecue sale and MORE!

Beyond Shippensburg

Jubilee Day, a one day street fair in downtown Mechanicsburg, is Thursday, June 16th! This annual event features more than 325 vendors offering food, games, arts & crafts, business information, retail products, carnival rides and more. There is a Children’s Area and live entertainment on two stages.

Newville’s Fountain Festival covers two days – June 17 & 18!  On Friday night, the festivities start off with a parade at 7:30 PM with street dancing afterwards.  On Saturday, there is live music at the fountain, entertainment. food, petting zoo, horse and wagon tours of Newville, quilt raffle, duck derby, craft stands, and MORE.

York’s Made In America Tours Event held in June, celebrates the local businesses in the area. Go behind the scenes and see the best of American artisanship. There is no overall fee to take the tour, although some stops do charge a small admission fee to their facility.  The tours and attractions are everything from pretzels and potato chips to violins and wine!  Visit Bluett Bros. Violins, DS Wood Bats, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Martin’s Potato Chips, Snyder’s of Hanover Factory Store, Sunrise Soap Company, and MORE. Most of the tours are appropriate for children.  Comfortable shoes are recommended – no sandals, flip-flops, high heels due to safety regulations at factories.

Carlisle GM Nationals will be held June 17 – 19.  Diverse group of General Motors vehicles, from vintage, muscle to the fifth generation Camaro, organized by year, make and model.  The event takes place at Carlisle Fairgounds, Carlisle.  Adult Admission: Daily Fri.-Sat. $10 / Sun $7 / Event Pass $15.  Gate Times: Thu.-Sat. 7am-6pm , Sun. 7am-3pm

The Codorus Blast Festival at Codorus State Park in Hanover is this weekend, June 17 – 19.  Dock dogs, boat rides, entertainment, 100 food and craft vendors, and more.  Children can make crafts, meet and learn about birds, reptiles, amphibians and other native animals at the Nature Tent, climb a rock wall, and participate in laser tag and water balloon wars.  Fireworks over the lake on Saturday at dusk. $5 per car.

The third Saturday of the 2016 Marion Festivals is June 18th.  Free Entertainment with 3 Shows each night (6:15 PM; 7:30 PM; 9 PM).  Food Games, Rides.  Kitchen opens at 4:30 PM.  Free parking.

Chambersburg Grocery Outlet will have their 1 year celebration Saturday June 18th, 2016.  Events from 10 AM – 2 PM include Spin the Wheel of Bargains with great prizes and shopping cart bingo.  Hot dog, chips and soda for $1.00.  Face painting, Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter fill the truck, Cake, Snacks, and more.

Ongoing Events

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre, 3290 Ritner Highway, Newville, is open Friday – Sunday.  Gates open at 7 p.m. First feature begins at approximately 9 PM. First Feature:  Finding Dory Second Feature:  Alice Through the Looking Glass  $8 Adults;  $4 Children 3-12; FREE for Children Under 3.

North Square Farmers Market, 50 N. Main Street, Chambersburg continues Saturday from 8 AM to NoonFree parking at the Courthouse.  Over twenty local vendors will offer local produce as well as cheeses, breads, fresh-cut flowers, baked goods, handmade soaps, & MORE. Children ages 3 -12 can sign up for POP (Power of Produce) Club.  Members receive $2 in tokens per market visit to be used on produce or vegetable plants! Membership in POP Club is free. 

On Saturday, June 18th the free miniature train rides continue at Norlo Park, 3050 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville.  It is open to riders of all ages. The train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride on Saturdays from 1 PM to 4 PM throughout Summer & Fall!  Last Train boards at 3:50 pm.  Donations are accepted.
