The Shippensburg Fair continues through July 30, 2016. Food, entertainment, livestock exhibits, home products, tractor pulls, horse shows, rides, and games for all ages.
TCC (The Cellular Connection) Verizon is inviting local families to bring their school aged children into their stores on July 30th for School Rocks Backpack Giveaway. The backpacks are filled with school supplies. Backpacks will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last on July 30 from Noon – 3 PM. Shippensburg’s participating store is located at 201 S. Conestoga Drive.

6th Annual Car Show at Providence Place on Saturday, July 30 will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. Cars, Appleway BBQ, Vendor/Craft show, Yard Sale, and Corn-hole Tournament. Event will be held from 9 AM – 2 PM at 208 Wayne Rd, Chambersburg.
Totem Pole Playhouse will present a FREE Children’s Theatre performance of “Rumpelstiltskin” at 10 AM on Saturday, July 30. This show is suitable for children of all ages. Stay for a meet & greet after the show. Totem Pole Playhouse, 9555 Golf Course Road, Fayetteville is located in Caledonia State Park between Chambersburg and Gettysburg.
Summer Theatre Arts Group Experience (STAGE) Camp will present “James and the Giant Peach, Jr. ” on Saturday, July 30, at 2 PM and 7 PM at the Capitol Theatre, 159 S. Main St., Chambersburg. STAGE Campers range in age from 8 to 18 and during the one week camp learn the many aspects of theatre production from auditions through rehearsals to the final performance. General admission tickets are $10; children age 12 and younger will be admitted for free. Tickets will be available at the door beginning one hour before each performance – payment by cash or check only.
A Miniature Train rides the rails at Norlo Park, 3050 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville on Saturdays. It is open to riders of all ages. The train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride on Saturdays weather permitting from 1 PM to 4 PM throughout Summer & Fall!
North Square Farmers Market, 50 N. Main Street, Saturday, July 30 from 8 AM to Noon. Children ages 3 -12 can sign up for POP (Power of Produce) Club. Members receive $2 in tokens per market visit to be used on produce or vegetable plant.
For those who could benefit from a spirit of generosity, Project Big Love will be held Saturday, July 30, starting at 9 AM at the Mont Alto fairgrounds off Pa. 997. The event is expected to end at 2 PM. The event features a shoe and backpack giveaway, free haircuts, free groceries, a job fair, a medical-services tent, community-services area, and a Kid’s Zone inflatable obstacle course. Ulta Beauty will have a Grand Opening at its new store, at 1320 Lincoln Way East. The new store will feature 20,000 beauty products across 500 brands. Ulta will also have experts on hand all weekend offering free makeovers and consultations. The doors will open at 10 AM for the grand opening on Friday and Saturday and at 11 AM Sunday.
NEWVILLE/CARLISLE
A Free Movie will be shown at Newville Community Park on July 29th at 8 PM. The FREE movie, Kung Fu Panda 3, popcorn, and drinks is sponsored by Movement Outreach. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Bring your own lawn chair.
This weekend’s double-feature at Cumberland Drive-in is “Ice Age: Collision Course” and “Jason Bourne.” Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is located at 3290 Ritner Highway, Newville. Gates open at 7 PM. First Feature begins at approximately 9:05 PM.
GETTYSBURG/HANOVER
Utz Quality Foods will host its 3rd annual Utz Summer Bash 11 AM – 5 PM July 29 outside of the Utz Outlet Store at 861 Carlisle St., Hanover. This is a FREE event for families and includes activities and games for all ages. Food Vendors, Poduct giveaways, Face-paintings, Food tasting, Carnival style games for children. All children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or chaperone.
On July 30th, the 33rd Annual Hanover Dutch Festival will be held in Hanover. German entertainment, vendors, a car show and a children’s carnival.
MECHANICSBURG/HARRISBURG/HALIFAX
Williams Grove Speedway will feature 410 Sprints, 360 Sprints and a display from the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing on July 29th. Gates open at 6 PM, race at 8 PM. Gate admission is $16 for Adults and $10 for youth ages 13 – 20. Children under 12 are always free.
At Lake Tobias, July 30-31, is a special event Wild Days Weekend. There will be Photo ops with baby animals, free pony rides on July 30, free face painting on July 31, and more from 11 AM – 4 PM. Lake Tobias Wildlife Park is located in Halifax.
