SHIPPENSBURG
The Shippensburg University football team holds an annual Media Day/Fan Gathering on Saturday, August 20th Noon – 3 PM. The football team will be taking its team pictures and interacting with fans while local media outlets will be interviewing players and coaches, followed by a team scrimmage. There will be giveaways for fans. Free Admission.
New art exhibit, Autumn Sullivan (AD photography and art), at The Thought Lot starts this Friday! Opening reception is Friday from 5-8pm, all ages welcome and free admission.

1st Annual Community Picnic is Saturday, August 20th. There will be food, prizes, games and the Jack and Dan Roddick Frisbee-Golf Event. The Picnic will be held at Shippensburg Township Park, 504 Britton Road from 5 PM – 8 PM. Contact the Shippensburg Historical Society (717) 532-6727 for more information. The Franklin County Truck Convoy will be leaving Twin Bridges Show Grounds, 1501 Crider’s Church Road, Chambersburg, PA at approximately 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 20th. The convoy will travel on Twin Bridge Road to Rt. 30 East thru the Borough of Chambersburg to Rt. 997 continuing to Rt. 11 South, back thru the Borough of Chambersburg to Rt. 30 West, turning right onto Crottlestown Road and returning to Twin Bridges Show Grounds. This is a benefit for Make-A-Wish.
Pop A Cork for the Capitol Beach Party will be held Saturday, August 20th 1 PM – 7 PM. The popular August Pop A Cork fundraiser for the historic non-profit Capitol Theatre will take place in the Capitol Back Lot with entrance to the event at 159 S. Main St. Chambersburg. $10 Event Admission. Includes bands and a souvenir Pop A Cork for the Capitol glass while supplies last. Rain or shine.
2016 Peach Festival at Fort Loudon Community Grounds, US 30 and Hawbaker Drive, will be held August 20th 8AM – 2PM. Celebrate the peach industry in Franklin County with all things peaches – peach pies, cobbler, cream puffs, peach sundaes, and bags of peaches for sale. There will also be musical entertainment, children’s activities, auction and more.
Fulton County Fair continues thru August 20, 2016. Fulton County Fairgrounds are located at 888 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg. The annual county fair features farm exhibits, 4-H/FFA livestock, food, live entertainment, games, pulls, derbies, races, fireworks, and more.
On Saturday, August 20th, enjoy a Tomato Tasting Day at 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg. This is a free, rain or shine event starting at 10 AM and ending at 2 PM. Children’s Area with tomato tasting and storytime, hot pepper table, floral arrangement display, contests, and more.

The National Zoo’s giant pandas Bao Bao, Bei Bei, and Tian Tian are celebrating their birthdays on August 20, 2016. The public is invited from 11 AM to 2 PM to watch the pandas eat their special frozen birthday cakes, enjoy animal demonstrations, and taste food compliments of the Chinese Embassy! Bei Bei, Bao Bao, and Tian Tian will be served their frozen birthday cakes at 1 PM.

A Miniature Train rides the rails at Norlo Park, 3050 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville on Saturdays. It is open to riders of all ages. The train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride on Saturdays weather permitting from 1 PM to 4 PM throughout Summer & Fall
The 36th annual season of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire at Mount Hope Estate continues every Saturday and Sunday and Labor Day Monday through October 30, 2016. The Faire features costumed characters, themed entertainment, music, dancing, 90 shows daily, 22 royal kitchens, artisan merchants, and handcrafted wares. Mount Hope Estate is located in Northern Lancaster County at 2775 Lebanon Road, Manheim, PA. The event is rain or shine. Gates open 11 AM and close at 8 PM. Each of the 13 weekends will showcase a different theme.
This weekend’s double-feature at Cumberland Drive-in is “Kubo & the Two Strings” and “Legend of Tarzan.” Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is located at 3290 Ritner Highway, Newville. Gates open at 7 PM. First Feature begins at approximately 8:40 PM.
