Shippensburg
Tiny World will be decorated and lighted for the holidays beginning November 25. Tiny World, 6720 Rice Road, Shippensburg is a miniature village whose tiny buildings are landscaped, lighted and furnished.
Turkey Hill will offer each shopper a free 16-ounce cup of coffee, fountain or slushey on Black Friday. Stop into a Turkey Hill on Thanksgiving beginning at 10 PM and all day Black Friday for a free 16 oz coffee, fountain, or slushey available while supplies last.
The Shippensburg Greyhound Football team will travel to Hershey for the team’s first-ever district championship game this Friday. Shippensburg Greyhounds vs. Berks Catholic Saints on Friday, 1 PM at Hersheypark Stadium.
Newburg
Newburg’s Christmas in the County will kick off its Holiday events with a tree lighting on November 25 at 7 PM at the Gazebo (downtown Newburg). Hot chocolate and cookies at the Ken Coleman Lodge Hall after the festivities!
Ortanna
Mister Ed’s Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium hosts its annual Santa Claus arrival celebration on Sunday, November 27, 2016. Santa will make his grand arrival at 2 PM. Until 4 PM, children can meet and have their picture taken with Santa and each child will receive $5 gift certificate to redeem at Mister Ed’s before Dec. 31. There is no cost for the event and registration is not required. Be sure to bring your own camera.
Chambersburg
On Small Business Saturday, Downtown Chambersburg Inc. is giving away $2,000 in Downtown Dollars to shoppers who present a receipt for $25 or more dated November 26, 2016 from a Downtown Chambersburg business. The first 161 shoppers who present a receipt beginning at 10 AM at the Courthouse Plaza will receive a giveaway of $10, $25 or $100 in Downtown Dollars (can be used just like cash at participating downtown merchants throughout the day on November 26). Forty-five shops are accepting Downtown Dollars on Small Business Saturday.
On Sat, November 26, a Holiday Bazaar will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 S. Second St. from 8 AM to 2 PM. The bazaar will feature work from local artisans, such as yarncraft, pottery, quilts and jewelry, with proceeds benefiting Trinity’s Free Community Breakfast.
Craft Shows, Holiday Bazaars, and Open Houses
The Drying Shed is having its Holiday Open House Friday, November 25 & 26 and December 2 & 3 (Fridays 10 – 7 and Saturdays 10 – 4). The Drying Shed, 1587 Newcomer Rd, Chambersburg is a dried flower farm and greenhouse. Choose from a selection of fresh evergreen wreaths, swags, and centerpieces. Also, find a variety of dried wreaths, arrangements, and enamelware.
Roots Cut Flower Farm, 2428 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle is having a Holiday POP-UP Shop! Their Wreath Sale Open House will be held for four days: Friday November 25, Saturday November 26, Saturday December 3 and Saturday December 10. Hours: 10 am – 4 pm. Wreaths, greens, plants, local artists, and more!
The 18th Annual Air Hill Craft Show & Bake Sale will be November 26 8 AM – 2 PM at Air Hill Church, 7041 Cumberland Hwy. 35 plus vendors – wooden items, handmade jewelry, crocheted items, baked good, and more.
Ongoing Christmas Events & Attractions
Tis the season to look for a Christmas Tree! We have rounded up a list of the Christmas Tree farms in our area. Most farms will be opening the day after Thanksgiving.
Hersheypark Christmas Candylane continues with select dates until January 1. Admission to Candylane is regularly $19 for ages 3 and up. Children ages 2 and younger are FREE. More than 40 rides are open, including 5 coasters.
Santa’s Wonderland is at Bass Pro Shops, 3501 Paxton Street, Harrisburg. There are free crafts, games, and activities. Kids get a FREE 4×6 photo with Santa. Please refer to the website for specific times.
Whitaker Center’s Holiday Trains & Trees exhibit is open. Beautifully decorated trees, surrounded by themed toy train sets and hands-on activities. Holiday Trains and Trees is included with standard Science Center admission. Find the Holiday Film Series at the Whitaker Center schedule on their website. The Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts is located at 222 Market Street, Harrisburg.
Save on Admission to Dutch Winterland Wonderland! Celebrate the magic of the season at Dutch Winter Wonderland with rides, entertainment, and the Royal Light Show, a spectacular display of thousands of twinkling lights dancing to music. Open select weekends and weekdays in November and December.
ZooLights at the National Zoo in Washington, DC is a FREE holiday event transforming the zoo into a winter wonderland. Zoolights kick off November 25 and continue through Jan. 1, 2017 (except Dec. 24 and 25) from 5 PM to 9 PM.
