What’s Happening | January 6, 7 & 8

Shippensburg
Katie’s Place Thrift Shop is having its next monthly sale January 5, 6 & 7 from 8 AM – Noon. The store is located at the old Martin’s Bakery Building (go down the hill to the bottom of the building) at the corner of S. Penn and E. Garfield Streets in Shippensburg. Items include men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, cookware, novelties, toys, books, pictures, lamps and MORE.
Tractor Supply holds affordable Pet Vaccine Clinics inside their stores for your dog, cat, puppy or kitten every Saturday at the Chambersburg & Shippensburg locations. Times are 10 AM – 11:30 AM at the Chambersburg store, 1733 Lincoln Way East or 1 PM – 2:30 PM at the Shippensburg store, 40 Shippensburg Shopping Center.
Tiny World located at 6720 Rice Road, Shippensburg is a miniature village whose tiny buildings are landscaped, lighted and furnished. Weather permitting, Tiny World is expected to be open and lighted through January 7th. Admission is free, but donations are accepted to help keep the place up and running.
The Mom’s Club of Shippensburg is hosting their 1st Annual New Year, New You fundraiser on January 7 from 1 – 4 PM at The Thought Lot. The fundraiser will benefit the expansion project of the Shippensburg Public Library. The fundraiser will include 20 consultants from LuLaRoe, a chinese auction with various gift baskets and concessions. In the event of inclement weather this event will be rescheduled to Saturday January 21st 1-4 PM at The Thought Lot.
Roxbury
The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641. The roller skating rink is open for public skating on Friday evenings from 7-9 PM Admission is only $4 and skate rentals are $1. Kids 6 and under are FREE and non-skating adults are FREE.
Chambersburg
The Cumberland Valley Model Railroad Club will be having an open house on Saturday January 7. The event features 10 different gauges in trains with layouts including Jurassic Park, Oil refinery, Lumber Mill, and rural Pennsylvania countryside. Young children will enjoy layouts of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, a Cartoon train, and a layout built completely of Legos. Visit their clubhouse on 440 Nelson Street in Chambersburg between Noon – 4 PM. This is a FREE event with plenty of parking. The building is handicapped accessible too.
J&B Bridal Show 2017 is this Sunday, January 8th at Wilson College. Doors open at 11:30 AM. Over 40 wedding related businesses will be ready to help you with all of your wedding needs. Madeline Gardner will be showcasing her 2017 Mori Lee bridal collection with her NYC runway models. Tickets available here.
Michaels is hosting a Kids Club from 10-noon on Saturday, January 7th. For $2 your child can make a Kindness Box designed by Sprout while you shop. Register here.
The Greene Township Municipal Park has an outdoor ice skating rink. Use of the rink will be open daily to the public from dawn to dusk. Skating is FREE and done at one’s own risk. Participants must bring their own skates. No organized events are permitted at this time.
Harrisburg
The 101st Pennsylvania Farm Show will run Jan. 7-13 from 8AM to 9PM and January 14 from 8AM to 5PM. The show will be held in the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center, North Cameron and Maclay Streets, Harrisburg. It highlights the state’s agricultural industry and will feature nearly 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibits. Admission to the Farm Show is free, however there is an extra charge for the Butterfly House, Tractor ride, Merry-go-round, Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Rodeos Jan. 12-14, food and vendor purchases. Parking is $15 at all Farm Show-operated lots.
