Greyhound Foundation Summer Arts Exploration Program | June 5 – June 8, 2017
The Summer Art Explorations Program for 2017 is scheduled for June 5 – June 8 for 3rd through 8th graders. The summer day camp is held in the art wing of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School from 9AM – 3PM.
Tuition is $150 with all supplies provided. Students should bring a packed lunch. There are five course offerings (classes are limited to 16 students):
Acting Up: An Introduction To Acting
This course is an exploration of the fundamentals of acting.
Make It Move: Introduction To Stop Motion Animation
The basic concepts and techniques of stop motion animation will be explored and campers will create their own stop motion videos in this fun and informative workshop.
Scary Glumps & Silly Creatures
Students will explore a variety of 2D media including drawing, painting, ink, and collage. Campers will be challenged to develop a series of imaginative creatures based on famous literature, yet emanating completely from their imaginations.
Six Strings: Intro to Guitar
Campers will explore the basics of playing an acoustic guitar, learning to read guitar chord tablatures and developing their ability to play chord progressions, leading to their ability to perform a 12 bar blues chord progression. Music elements including, rhythm, steady beat, time signatures, melody contour and chord progressions will be explored in an relaxed and fun atmosphere.
Treasure Trove
This course will provide students with the opportunity to try their hands at jewelry making. A variety of methods and techniques for wire work, bead making, metal etching, resin casting, and more will be explored. At the end of the course, each student will have created several unique and finished jewelry pieces to take home.
