Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in South Central PA.
Shippensburg/Newburg
At The Thought Lot on March 10, 7 PM help Emily Barnes celebrate the release of her new album “Let in the Light.” All ages welcome. $10 general admission; $8 in advance or with student ID.
Shippensburg Senior High School Drama Club will present Fiddler on the Roof this weekend. Show times are Thursday, March 9th at 7:00 PM, Friday, March 10th at 7:00 PM and Saturday, March 11th at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM. The musical will be held in the High School Auditorium and you may purchase your tickets online HERE.
The Spring Extravaganza at the Beistle Company will take place Saturday March 11th from 8 AM – 2 PM. Food, Baked Goods, Floral Arrangements, Seasonal Decor, Small Businesses, Antiques, Wood Crafts vendors and more! The event will be held indoors at 1 Beistle Plaza.
The annual Lawilowan American Indian Festival is an authentic Native American Pow-wow held from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday, March 11 at Shippensburg University’s Recreation Center. Grand Entry is at noon. Throughout the event, you will see Native Americans dressed in their traditional regalia, and enjoy drumming, singing and dancing. Admission fee is $5 per person and free for those under the age 7 and over 65.
John & Lena Fisher will open their farm, Otterbein Acres, in Newburg where you can experience farm life for a day. On Saturday March 11, visit the newly born lambs, goats, see sheep shearing, and much more! Visitors may come between 8 AM and 4 PM. Homemade food will be available for sale. Otterbein Acres is located at 10071 Otterbein Church Road.
Roxbury
The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641. The roller skating rink is open for public skating on Friday evenings from 7-9 PM Admission is only $4 and skate rentals are $1. Kids 6 and under are FREE and non-skating adults are FREE.
Chambersburg
Bring the kids to the Chambersburg Mall on March 11 and March 12 to bounce and have some fun! AE Bounce House Rentals will have their inflatables set up at the mall. The price is $8/child. Saturday Noon – 7 PM; Sunday Noon – 5 PM
Vintage Market at the Old Red Barn has their next monthly sale March 10 – 12. Open every second weekend of the month the barn is full of treasures to accessorize your vintage home! There will be lots of spring inspiration this show as well as holiday goods for Easter. Friday 12-8; Saturday 10-5; Sunday 12-5
The Operation Christmas Child Ministry has a Craft Day scheduled Saturday March 11, 9AM – 11:30AM at King Street Church. Tables of “Make & Take” crafts. The Capitol Theater will host a Comedy & Magic Spectacular on Saturday, March 11 at 7PM. Bring your family and friends to this event of magic and laughter presented by the Exchange Club of Chambersburg. Tickets range from $14-$19.
Waynesboro
The 34th annual Waynesboro Hospital Health Fair takes place at Waynesboro Area Senior High School, 550 East 2nd Street on Saturday, March 11 from 7:30AM – 11AM. Free health screenings, kid’s activities, and prizes & giveaways. Take tours through the MEGA Brain inflatable.
The 11th annual Chocolate Extravaganza is Saturday March 11, 7PM. This event at the American Legion Post 15 in Waynesboro, features chocolate creations by area confectioners, music by the CVSM Jazz Quartet, complimentary champagne, door prizes and more. Tickets are $25 a person.
Greencastle
Vogue To Vintage Spring Warehouse Sale will be held March 9th & 10th from 10AM – 7PM and March 11th from 10AM – 4PM. Make-up, Vitamins, Toys, Medical Supplies, School & Office Supplies. Easter Items (Baskets, Grass, Eggs, toys and more). The sale is held at 2375 Buchanan Trail West.
Harrisburg
Admission to The State Museum is free on Charter Day, Sunday, March 12, Noon – 4PM and includes visits to the Planetarium, the Curiosity Connection, and galleries. Free tickets are required for the Planetarium and the Curiosity Connection. The Museum Store will also be offering special discounts.
Hershey
Zoo America has $6 Fridays where all visitors get in for $6 every Friday during the winter through March 2017. Admission is regularly $11 per person for ages 9-54, $9 for ages 3-8 & 55+, and free for ages 2 and under.
Hagerstown
The 23rd Annual HCC Alumni Flower & Garden Show will be held on Saturday, March 11, from 9 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday, March 12, from 10 AM to 4 PM, in the Athletic, Recreation and Community Center (ARCC). The theme for 2017 is “Bring Back the Butterflies.” Admission is $5 for adults and children under 12 are free.
