Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in South Central PA!

Take part in PA Fish and Boat’s Mentored Youth Trout Days!  Youth under the age of 16 can join a mentor (adult) angler who has a current fishing license and trout permit to fish on Saturday, March 25, on stocked trout waters within the 18 southeastern regional counties (Adams, Berks, Bucks, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Franklin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Perry, Philadelphia, Schuylkill and York) for Regional Trout Season.

Shippensburg

Twin Valley Girl Scouts Heart of Pennsylvania is hosting a Family Fun Fair on March 25 from 10AM – 2PM for kids 10 and under.  The event held at Memorial Lutheran Church will include games to play and prizes.  FREE event but each family is asked to bring a donation of Wipes and/or Diapers to help families in need.

Cumberland Valley Hitmen take on the Lancaster Outlaws at home (Veterans Memorial Park) for the Hitmen Season Home Opener on Sat, March 25 at 1PM!  FREE admission and concession stand will be open.

On March 25, shop the Spring Rummage Sale at The Local Gathering from 8AM – 2PM.  All items price to sell!  Food and drinks available.

The Shippensburg University chapter of Tau Kappa is hosting its seventh annual “Project Prom Dress” event.  The event will be held Sunday, March 26 from 9 AM – 3 PM inside Heiges Field House. Items for sale will include gently used prom dresses, homecoming dresses, purses, dress shoes and jewelry. Everything will be priced under $30.

Roxbury

The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641.  The roller skating rink is open for public skating on Friday evenings from 7-9 PM. Admission is only $4 and skate rentals are $1.  Kids 6 and under are FREE and non-skating adults are FREE.

There will be an American Girl Doll Bingo on March 26 at Roxbury Lions Club park. Tickets $20. Includes 20 regular games, and one game for children only.  Doors open at 11AM.  Early Bird Game at 12:45PM.   Regular Bingo begins at 1PM.

Carlisle

Just Like New Children’s, Maternity & Household Consignment Sale will be at the Carlisle Expo Center.  Thursday, Mar 23rd 10AM – 7PM;  Friday, Mar 24th 10AM – 6PM; Saturday, Mar 25th – 8AM – 11:30AM (1/2 Price On Selected Items).

The Meadows Frozen Custard of Carlisle is offering a FREE Cone/Cup Night on March 25.  Hours are from 6PM – 9PM.

Chambersburg

Chambersburg Community Theatre presents the Woody Allen farce, “Don’t Drink the Water” at the Capitol Theatre.  A comedy about an American tourist and his wife and daughter, rush into the American embassy behind the Iron Curtain. The police expect them of spying and picture taking.  March 24 & 25 at 7:30PM and March 26 at 2PM. For tickets, call 717-263-0202 or go to CCTonline.org.

Franklin County Rock and Mineral Club is sponsoring the 39th Annual Gem, Mineral, and Jewelry Show at Hamilton Elementary School. Vendors from all over will be displaying for sale jewelry, cut and uncut gems, fossils and unique mineral specimens.  The show will be held March 25th 10AM – 5PM and March 26th 10AM – 4PM.  Admission is $5.00.  Children 12 and under free.

Royer’s Kids Club is having a FREE event where your child ages 5 to 12 can make their own Bunny Face on Saturday March 25 in all stores.  Time slots are available at 10 AM and 2 PM at each of Royer’s Flowers stores in Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon and York counties.  Registration is required by calling your nearest Royer’s store.

Bruster’s Customer Appreciation Day is from 11AM-9PM.  Stop by in your coolest pair of pajamas and receive a FREE small waffle cone to enjoy with family and friends.

The Meadows Frozen Custard of Chambersburg is offering a FREE Cone/Cup Night from 7PM -10PM on March 25.  One per person and you must be present to receive a FREE cone.

This Saturday March 25, from 4-7PM, Boy Scout Troop 135 is hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser at Trinity Lutheran Church, Chambersburg. All proceeds will go towards sending the boys to summer camp!  $10 all you can eat, $5 for ages 4-12; 3 and under free.

The Jewish Food and Heritage Festival on March 26 at Congregation Sons of Israel, 209 E. King St., Chambersburg, will feature homemade Jewish food and Klezmer Jewish music by the music group AlleZingun.  Seatings for the meal will be at noon and 1:30PM.  Tickets, $12 each, include 10 food items and beverage. Takeout is available.

Biglerville

Taylor’s Greenhouse will conduct a Pansy Fest, “Cultivate Kid Gardeners” workshop on Saturday March 25 and Sunday March 26 from 10AM – 2PM. Young gardeners between the ages of 5-12 will decorate and plant a small planter. Please call ahead to preregister.

Harrisburg

Harrisburg Senators invite you to SensFest at FNB Field on March 25 from 10:30AM – 1:30PM.  This event is FREE for the whole family.  Self-guided scavenger hunt around the ballpark, arts and crafts for kids, National Anthem auditions (from 11:30am – 12:30pm), a sidewalk sale at the team store, and more.
