Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend!
Shippensburg/Newburg/Roxbury
The Local Gathering, 611 Shippensburg Road is having a Vendor and Craft Show Fundraiser with vendors/crafters on Saturday, May 20 9AM – 2PM. There will be coffee, baked goods and yardsale items for sale as well.
Maplewood Produce and Greenhouse is having a Spring Color Fest on May 19 & May 20. Enjoy free refreshments, great deli specials, and 10% off all plants and lawn furniture.
Newburg’s Memorial Day events are on Sunday, May 21. Parade begins at 2PM from Newburg United Methodist Church.
Friday, May 19 from 7-9PM is the final public skating session at the Blue Mountain Skating Rink for the 2016/17 school year. Admission is only $4 and skate rentals are $1. Kids 6 and under are FREE and non-skating adults are FREE.
Newville/Carlisle
Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this week! Showing May 19-May 21 will be Smurfs: The Lost Village and Guardians of the Galaxy. Gates open at 7 PM. First feature begins at approximately 8:20 PM.
The Master Gardener Plant Fest will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Cumberland County Service Center, 310 Allen Road, Carlisle, PA. The plant sale runs from 8AM to 1PM, rain or shine.
Come out to the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center (USAHEC) Armed Forces Weekend, Saturday, May 20 – Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 9AM to 5PM, for Army Heritage Days! Each year the USAHEC hosts Army Heritage Days, a timeline living history event that features several hundred reenactors from all eras spread out over the one mile long Army Heritage Trail. This year’s focus will be tanks and armored vehicles. Veterans Meet and Greet, Lectures by notable historians, the Kid’s passport program, and Informational programs by the reenactors on the Army Heritage Trail. Book sale in the Museum Store and several food vendors. Free and open to the public.
The Carlisle Import & Performance Nationals features more than 2,000 show vehicles. In addition to the the imports, this new event welcomes domestics, kits cars, motorcycles, and trucks as well. May 19-21, 2017; Adult Admission: Daily Fri.- Sat. $10 / Sun $7 / Event Pass $15; Kids 12 and Under FREE; Event Hours Thu.-Sat. 7am-6pm , Sun. 7am-3pm
Mechanicsburg
The 2017 Spring Tractor & Steam Show will include steam engines, train rides, antique tractors, working saw mill, model train exhibit, 2 museums and food. May 19 — Tractor Pulls 7PM; May 20 — Consignment Sale 8AM.
Chambersburg
A 5k Run/Walk for the Boys & Girls Club of Chambersburg/Shippensburg will be held May 20. Fun, food and activities for the whole family! 5K Hero Run (come dressed as your favorite hero or superhero), giant inflatables, DJ & dance party, face painting, games for the kids and more.
Friends of Legal Services begins its 3 day book sale Friday, May 19 at Laird Hall, Wilson College campus in Chambersburg. The 33rd Annual Book Sale features more than 70,000 gently used books at bargain prices! Friday, May 19, 2017: 9AM to 9PM; Saturday, May 20, 2017: 9AM to 5PM; Sunday, May 21, 2017: Noon to 4PM. The proceeds of the book sale help support Franklin County Legal Services and other legal services programs in the community.
A Family Festival will be held on Saturday, May 20 from 4PM – 7PM at Salem UB Church (4349 Letterkenny Rd). Food, Music, Games, Prizes. Everything is FREE. Rain or Shine.
Cluggy’s is sponsoring a Family Ukulele Class to introduce the children and interested adults on how to play the Uke. This fun session will be held at 393A Bedington Blvd, next door to Cluggys. Suggested $5 donation.
Franklin County PA Master Gardeners is holding a Spring Plant & Greenhouse Sale on May 21st, 9 AM – 1 PM, Franklin County Extension Office, 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg. Lines form early. Bring your wagon and boxes. Come early for the best choices. Allow time to visit both the greenhouse sale across the lane & the plant sale at the stream.
The Greene Township Park will host a Spring Fling and Talent Show on May 19. The event will begin at 4:30PM and feature Bounce Houses, Slides, Obstacle Course, Face Painting, Carnival games, Knockerballs, Food & Craft Vendors, Music and More. Admission into the inflatable attractions will be $5 for all-you-can-bounce fun. Talent Show at 6:30PM.
57th Annual Chambersburg Coin Show is May 20 from 10AM – 4PM. FREE admission. Door prizes, Coins & Currency, Buying, Selling, and Trading. Motel 6 (formerly Quality Inn), Wayne Ave Off I-81 Exit #14, Chambersburg.
The Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter will hold a rabies and microchip clinic from 9AM to Noon on Saturday, May 20, at the shelter at 5051 Letterkenny Road West. The cost is $8 per animal and $15 per microchip. Bring paperwork proof of last year’s vaccination and this will be a 3-year shot. Proceeds will benefit CVAS.
The Chambersburg Community Theatre presents “Anne of Green Gables” adapted by R. N. Sandberg from the novel by L. M. Montgomery. Performances will be at 7PM on May 19 and 20 and at 2PM on May 21. For ticket information visit here.

On May 20 from 9AM – 3PM on the square in Greencastle is Spring Seasonal Marketplace! Listen to live music from local artists, and enjoy crafters, artisans, homemade foods and fresh produce.

Gettysburg
More than 120 antique dealers and collectors from the North and the South will converge on in Gettysburg on May 20th from 7AM-4PM. The antique event is billed as a “buyers and sellers” paradise, with high quality antiques and collectibles. The event is held on Carlisle, Chambersburg, Baltimore and York Streets, along with Lincoln Square, all in Historic Downtown Gettysburg. The show is held rain or shine.
