Shippensburg
A comedy night with Earl David Reed and Friends will be at the Southampton Township Cumberland County’s Multi Purpose Center on June 16 at 6PM. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served along with a free tasting of brews with Market Cross Pub & Brewery. The cost per person is $35. To purchase tickets, please stop by the Park and Rec office at 56 Cleversburg Rd.
The 12th annual SHAPE Solstice Arts Festival will be held June 17 (9AM – 4PM) at Shippensburg Township Park. The festival features the fine arts, music, good food, children’s art activities, creative outlets for all ages, and fun for the entire family! There will be art vendors with works ranging from pottery, glass blowing, fiber arts, painting, photography, jewel-crafting, and sculpture. For the younger visitors, there is face painting, an Art Wall, and a variety of art projects that can be created and taken home. Food vendors.
Kids Night with the Shippensburg Stars is Saturday June 17 at 5PM. Prizes to kids ages 12 and under. The Stars will be playing a double header at Shippensburg Veterans Stadium. FREE admission.

Beyond Shippensburg
Plainfield: The West Pennsboro Volunteer Fire Co. Fair & Festival is on three nights, June 15, 16, & 17. Plenty of Homemade Food, Fun, and Music! Live Bands each Night. The fair starts at 4PM nightly and is located at the fire company’s station, 20 Park Road in Plainfield.
Mont Alto: The 42nd Annual Mont Alto Volunteer Firemen’s Carnival will be held June 16 – June 24, 2017. For nine nights, enjoy Rides by Penn Wood Amusements, Entertainment, 10 cent Bingo, Games and Food at the Mont Alto Fire Company’s Events Complex, off of Route 997. Kitchen opens at 5:30PM every night.
Newville: The Cumberland Valley Tractor Pullers Association will hold a tractor pull on June 17, 6:30PM. Admission is $10 for adults with children under 12 free. Concession Stand available.
Newville: The annual Newville Fountain Festival will return to the fountain in downtown Newville on June 16 & June 17. This two-day event features a parade, craft vendors, food, live music, antique car show, historic tours of Newville, a petting zoo, baking contest and children’s alley.
Chambersburg & Carlisle: The Royer’s Kids Club will kick off a food drive with their June 17th event in all stores. Children ages 5 to 12 are asked to donate a nonperishable food item as the price of admission, and to bring an empty food can in which to make an arrangement for themselves.
Chambersburg: Enjoy local talent at the 1st round of the 3rd Annual A Capella & Unplugged competition. Fourteen acts will perform on the Capitol Theatre stage vying to be selected as one the top six acts by the judges. Tickets are $15.
Chambersburg: The Inn at Ragged Edge will host an evening of amazing music on June 18th featuring Paul Byrom of Celtic Thunder. Tickets $35.
Marion: The 2017 Marion Festivals continue June 17. Free Entertainment with 3 Shows each night (6:15PM; 7:30PM; 9PM). Food Games, Rides. Kitchen opens at 4:30PM. Free parking.
Fayetteville: Totem Pole Playhouse located in Caledonia State Park between Gettysburg and Chambersburg is offering low cost previews of the Tony Award-winning musical, The Drowsy Chaperone. The production will have three previews this Friday, June 16, at 8PM and Saturday, June 17, at 2PM and 8PM with all general admission seats only $20.00!
Biglerville: Come out and have a fun filled day of Music and BBQ at the Round Barn. On Sunday, June 18th from 11AM – 3:30PM is their annual Father’s Day Beer and BBQ. There will be food from Willy’s Q Shack and The Chicken Truck, free craft beer and hard cider samples courtesy of Thirsty Farmer Brew Works, games, and live music from local favorite “Klinger McFry” that starts at noon.
Rouzerville: The third Mason-Dixon Applachian Trail Outdoor Festival is Saturday, June 17. Hikers and outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds will learn more about the Trail in the Mason-Dixon area, and to enjoy a variety of activities. Free admission, the public is welcome 10AM – 4PM, rain or shine, at Red Run Park in Rouzerville, just west of where the Appalachian Trail crosses PA Rt. 16.
Ft. Loudon: Life on the 1700s era frontier will be highlighted at this year’s Colonial Day, Saturday, June 17 from 9AM to 3PM at the State Historic Site of Fort Loudoun. Throughout the day, there will be colonial cooking in the summer kitchen, blacksmiths, spinning and weaving and other colonial crafts, French and Indian War re-enactors and a display of Allegheny Uprising movie memorabilia. Fort Loudoun is located 13 miles west of Chambersburg off Route 30 on North Brooklyn Road. Admission and parking are free.
York: Explore York County during Made In America Days, June 14 – 17. York’s Made In America Tours Event celebrates the local businesses in the area. Go behind the scenes and see the best of American artisanship. There is no overall fee to take the tour, although some stops do charge a small admission fee to their facility. The tours and attractions are everything from pretzels and potato chips to violins and wine! Visit Bluett Bros. Violins, DS Wood Bats, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Martin’s Potato Chips, Snyder’s of Hanover Factory Store, Sunrise Soap Company, and MORE. Most of the tours are appropriate for children. Comfortable shoes are recommended – no sandals, flip-flops, high heels due to safety regulations at factories.
York: Touch-A-Tractor Day at Flinchbaugh’s Orchard is June 17 at 10AM – 3PM. Kids have the opportunity to explore over 30 tractors, trucks and pieces of farm equipment. Admission is FREE! Food concessions are available.
Hanover: The Codorus Blast Festival at Codorus State Park in Hanover is this weekend, June 16 – 18. Dock dogs, boat rides, entertainment, 100 food and craft vendors, and more. Kids activities. Fireworks over the lake on Saturday at 9:30PM. $5 per car.
Harrisburg: The National Civil War Museum is proud to provide a Community Free Day on June 17 9AM – 4PM with activities and entertainment for the community, completely free of charge to visitors on this day in conjunction with Civil War Days in Harrisburg. Museum guests will enjoy special presentations, children’s activities and a living history encampment.
Hagerstown: Hagerstown Regional Airport and the Hagerstown Aviation Museum will be offering a behind-the-scenes look at Hagerstown-built aircraft during a special Father’s Day event on June 18th. From 8AM – 4PM, bring your family out to Rider Jet Center for Open Airplane Day. FREE admission.

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is open Friday through Sunday this week! Showing June 16 – June 18 will be Cars 3 and Captain Underpants: The Epic Movie. Gates open at 7PM. First feature begins at approximately 8:55PM.
North Square Farmers Market is open from 8AM to Noon on Saturday mornings until October 21. You will find local produce, local cheeses, fresh-cut flowers, baked goods, handmade soaps and body products, locally roasted coffee and specialty foods like gourmet popcorn. Food vendors will have breakfast and lunch items available. Kids aged 3 -12 can sign up for POP (Power Of Produce) Club! POP Members receive $2 in tokens per market visit to be used on fresh fruits and vegetables. Membership in POP Club is free. Look for the market tents behind King Street Church!
Train rides at Norlo Park will be continue on Saturday, June 17. The miniature train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride on Saturdays from 1PM to 4PM! It is open to riders of all ages. Last Train boards at 3:50PM. Donations are accepted.
