IN SHIPPENSBURG
Deerfield Commons is hosting a Summer Kick-Off Carnival on Saturday, June 24, from 11AM – 4PM. The event is free and features a water slide, face painting, local business vendors, door prizes, food, and games. H&H Chevrolet will have cars available to view and Cabin on King is bringing their ice cream truck.
Shippensburg Sonlight Praise Fest is June 24 from Noon – 8PM. The one day festival at Shippensburg Township Park on Britton Road includes praise and worship with live music, craft and business vendors, kids’ games, face painting and food. Entrance fee is two canned goods.
On June 24, The Local Gathering is hosting a Civil War Ball & Memories fundraiser. Enjoy a day and evening of dancing, ball gowns, a cake walk and laughter. Read more about the event HERE.
The 19th Annual Shippensburg Benefit Auction (Shippensburg Auction Center on Ritner Highway) on Saturday, June 24 supports the Clinic for Special Children’s work. Breakfast is at 7AM, auctions start at 8:30AM, Quilt auction at Noon. Food available too!
A Civil War Walking Tour will be held Friday, June 23, 7:30PM. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.
Katie’s Place Thrift Shop is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this week! 8AM to Noon.
BEYOND SHIPPENSBURG

The 42nd Annual Mont Alto Volunteer Firemen’s Carnival is going on now through June 24. Enjoy Rides by Penn Wood Amusements, Entertainment, 10 cent Bingo, Games and Food at the Mont Alto Fire Company’s Events Complex, off of Route 997. Kitchen opens at 5:30PM every night. Fireworks will be held on Friday, June 23 at 9:30PM. Fireworks will be Saturday, June 24.
Roxbury Fair sponsored by the Lurgan Lions Club will be held Thursday through Saturday, June 22 – 24. The fairgrounds are located at 13978 Cumberland Highway across from the Roxbury Holiness Camp. Serving Nightly starting at 5PM. Food, Kids Inflatables, and Games!
South Newton Township Volunteer Fire Co. 32nd Annual Fair & Fireworks display is June 22, 23, & 24. Come out for lots of homemade food, games, live bands, and $10 armband inflatable rides for the kids by Phantom Shadow Entertainment. Fireworks after dark on Friday! UPDATE: The fireworks have been rescheduled for Saturday night!
The Carlisle Summerfair has been providing family friendly events to the public around the 4th of July holiday. The annual festival runs June 23 through July 4. Download the entire schedule HERE. Most of the events are free, but some ask for a donation.
The Chevrolet Nationals will be held June 23-25 at the Carlisle Fairgrounds. Home to a diverse group of General Motors vehicles, from vintage muscle to the modern 5th Generation Camaro.
The Mid-Atlantic Reptile Expo on June 24 at the Carlisle Expo Center is a sales & educational event geared toward reptile and amphibian enthusiasts (snakes, lizards, frogs, spiders and more). Entrance tickets are $8 for all guests 13 years of age and older, guests 12 and under are free. Tickets are available at the door.
On June 24th 6PM, The Inn at Ragged Edge is hosting an evening of classical music and refreshments. The evening benefits a non-profit organization, Hope For Orphans (H4O), and the funds will be used for the organization of a camp in an Ukranian orphanage. Admission is free but donations accepted.
Marion Festival’s final night is Saturday is June 24th. Food, Games, Rides. Kitchen Opens at 4:30PM. Free entertainment.
On June 23 & 24, Old Bedford Village is having a Wild West Weekend! Go back to the days of the Old West with gunfights, bank raids and more. 9AM-5PM. Adult Admission $10; Students (Age 6 to 18) $5; Under Age 6 FREE.
ONGOING SUMMER EVENTS
The Bass Pro Shops Family Summer Camp features FREE fun games for kids, activities and workshops. BB Range, Hands-On Archery, Casting Buckets, Yard Games. Family Summer Camp runs Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays June 24-July 23 from Noon-5PM. Crafts are scheduled Noon-2PM.
FREE Concerts at Chambersburg Memorial Park Kiwanis Band Shell continue all Summer long. View the dates HERE.
Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is open Friday through Sunday this week! Showing June 23-25 will be Cars 3 and Wonder Woman. Gates open at 7PM. First feature begins at approximately 9:15PM.
North Square Farmers Market is open from 8AM – Noon on Saturday mornings until October 21. You will find local produce, cheeses, fresh-cut flowers, baked goods, handmade soaps and body products, locally roasted coffee and specialty foods like gourmet popcorn. Kids aged 3 -12 can sign up for POP (Power Of Produce) Club! POP Members receive $2 in tokens per market visit to be used on fresh fruits and vegetables. Membership in POP Club is free. Look for the market tents behind King Street Church!
Train rides at Norlo Park will be continue on Saturday, June 24. The miniature train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride on Saturdays from 1PM – 4PM! It is open to riders of all ages. Last Train boards at 3:50PM. Donations are accepted.
Lincoln Caverns in Huntingdon County, along the historic Route 22 William Penn Highway Corridor, offers a spectacular look into what lies below the surface in Pennsylvania. On June 23 — you can get one FREE child admission (ages 4-12) with each adult ticket purchased!
