Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend!
Shippensburg
On Friday, July 14th the Shippensburg Historical Society will host a movie night with the feature “The Big Trail.” Doors open at 5:30PM followed by a presentation at 6PM with the movie starting upon completion of the presentation. Admission is FREE! Popcorn, candy and drinks available by donation.
A Grocery Auction benefiting the Cumberland Valley Hose Co. will be on Saturday, July 15 at the Shippensburg Firefighters Activity Center. Irish Mike of New Dawn Enterprises will be coming with a truck load of food. The fun filled auction begins at 11AM and offers you to save money on your food budget!
Fayetteville
Train rides at Norlo Park will be continue on Saturday, July 15. The miniature train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride on Saturdays from 1PM – 4PM! It is open to riders of all ages. Last Train boards at 3:50PM. Donations are accepted.
Greencastle
The 2017 Greencastle Fireman’s Carnival is going on now through July 15. The Carnival features rides, games, food, and entertainment at the Blue Heron Events Center, 407 South Washington Street. Cash Bingo every night. Kids ride all night for $20 Monday through Thursday. Rides are $2 per ride Friday and Saturday from 6PM to 10PM. The kitchen opens nightly at 5:30PM.
Newville/Carlisle
Carlisle Chrysler Nationals is this weekend, July 14 – July 16 at Carlisle Fairgrounds, 1000 Bryn Mawr Road. Features more than 2,500 vehicles from all eras of the Chrysler brand, including classics, muscle cars and high-performance new models. Also the Hurst Nationals will be hosted at the Carlisle Expo Center (located just a block away from the fairgrounds).
Meadowbrooke Gourds is having a Summer Celebration on Saturday, July 15! The evening’s events include outdoor Oops Sale, Beer provided by local brewery, Music, Food Stands, Horse drawn Hayride by Benchfield Farms, Silent Auction to benefit Speranza Animal Rescue, and Paint Your Own Birdhouse ($10). Cash only for food and wagon rides. Bring your own lawn chair.
Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is showing Despicable Me 3 and Spider-Man: Homecoming Friday through Sunday. Gates open at 7PM. First feature begins at approximately 9:15PM.
Chambersburg
The Franklin County Fair continues through July 15 at the Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club on Warm Spring Road. Enjoy rides and amusements by Phantom Shadow Entertainment including Jump from the Stunt Jump, Ride a Mechanical Bull, Dunk a Clown, Slide, Bounce on the Monkey Motion Extreme Air Quad Pods, or Climb the Rockwall. Wristbands will be $7 per night to ride everything. Every night will be wristband night. Admission to the fair will be free in 2017, with a $5-per-vehicle parking fee.
North Square Farmers Market is open from 8AM – 3PM (extended hours for Old Market Day) on Saturday morning. Look for the market tents behind King Street Church!

ChambersFest continues through Saturday, July 15th. Here are this weekend’s events.
The weekend kicks off with the 1864 Civil War Ball on Friday July 14, 6:30PM at Allison-Antrim Museum’s 19th century German Bank Bar in Greencastle. Participants will be guided by the Victorian Dance Ensemble, the performing troupe of the Civil War Dance Foundation, and are invited to dress in Civil War era attire, contemporary formal or contemporary business attire.
On Saturday, July 15 is Old Market Day! The annual street festival runs from 9AM to 4PM. Downtown Chambersburg will be filled with arts, crafts and food vendors as well as two live-music stages, kids’ activities and more.
“Visions of a Quilter” will take place on July 14 & July 15 at Falling Spring Presbyterian Church. The quilt show will showcase more than 200 quilted works as well as demonstrations of quilting techniques. Handmade items and quilting supplies will be available for purchase.
Other activities include a Circus exhibit and Bounce house at The Old Jail, dance performance at the Capitol Theatre by Chambersburg Ballet Theatre School, and music by Cumberland Valley School of Music at First United Methodist Church.
After Old Market Day is 1864: The Burning. Activities begin at 6PM with history exhibits, vendors, kids’ activities and the final round of a musical competition, A Cappella & Unplugged, followed by the reenactment of the Burning of Chambersburg with an exciting laser light show at dusk.
Waynesboro
Renfrew Museum and Park is hosting an event titled, “A Day in the Life of the Royer Children” on Saturday, July 15 from 11AM to 4PM. Admission and food will be FREE! Highlights of the day to include: A petting zoo from Noon to 3PM; Slim Harrison and the Sunnyland Band from 11AM to 3PM; Free hot dogs, lemonade, cookies & Antietam Dairy ice cream; Demonstrations of children’s chores; Children’s craft stations and activities. Experience how the Royer children lived, worked, and played during the 1800’s.
Biglerville/Gettysburg
Hollabaugh Farms is celebrating their 62nd Anniversary with a Blueberry Festival on July 15 and 16. The event is featuring fresh blueberries and samples, homemade blueberry baked goods, blueberry ice cream, special deals on produce, Pick-Your-Own Blueberries, fun kids’ activities, The Apple Bin Food Truck, and loads of samples from local vendors.
On July 15, the Adams County Irish Festival will be held 10AM – 6:30PM at 100 Moose Road, Gettysburg. The rain-or-shine event will offer music, dancers, craft and food vendors.
