SHIPPENSBURG
The 37th Annual Shippensburg Corn Festival will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 8AM – 4PM. Downtown streets are closed to traffic and transformed into a huge street fair for the day. More than 250 craft and food vendors, an antique car show, free family entertainment and a corn eating contest. Parking for the Corn Festival is available at the Shippensburg Fairgrounds for $3. A free shuttle bus is provided from the fairgrounds to the center of the festival at King and Earl Streets. There is also parking at numerous private lots throughout town. This is a rain or shine event. No pets.
Terrarium Evening Fundraiser for The Local Gathering will be held Friday, August 25th at 7PM. Beth Loftus of “Inside the Glass” will be guiding an evening of putting a ½ gallon glass container together to make a terrarium. The cost is $35 each and RSVP paid by August 24th.
CHAMBERSBURG
Duncan Holmes from Texas will be featured in a Free Concert at The Inn at Ragged Edge on Saturday, August 26th at 7PM. Blind from birth, Duncan was involved with music throughout his education and received his Master of Music Education Degree. Please call the Inn to reserve your seat.
North Square Farmers Market, 50 N. Main Street, will be held Saturday, August 26 from 8AM to Noon. Children ages 3 -12 can sign up for POP (Power of Produce) Club. Members receive $2 in tokens per market visit to be used on produce or vegetable plant.
A Miniature Train rides the rails at Norlo Park, 3050 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville on Saturdays. It is open to riders of all ages. The train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride from 1PM to 4PM throughout Summer & Fall.
Franklin Clothing Outlet in Chambersburg is having an End of Summer Indoor Sidewalk Sale! The Sale starts Wednesday, August 23 and continues through Saturday, August 26. Sale hours: Wed, Thurs, Fri 11AM – 4:30PM; Saturday 10AM – 2PM
ROXBURY
The Lurgan Township Lion’s Club Bull Ride will be held on Saturday, August 26 at 7PM. 60 bulls and is sanctioned by International Bull Riders. Tickets at the gate are $20 Adult and $15 for ages 6 – 12. Children 5 and under are Free. Gates open at 5PM. Lurgan Township Lions Club is located at 13978 Cumberland Hwy in Roxbury.
CARLISLE
August 24 – 27th is Corvettes at Carlisle. The event features more than 5,000 Corvettes representing all generations of America’s classic sports car. Events include autocross, burnouts, parade through historic downtown Carlisle, Corvette giveaway, a huge swap meet, an all-Corvette car corral, Manufacturers Midway, and Installation Alley.
WAYNESBORO
The Annual Jazz Festival takes place August 27, 2PM – 4PM at Renfew Institute. Renfrew Institute’s annual jazz festival spotlights top professional artists each year. Free and open to the public. On the lawn behind the museum house. (Rain site: Waynesboro Area Middle School auditorium)
MANHEIM
The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire is held on the grounds of the Mount Hope Estate. With over 90 stage shows daily, 22 Royal Kitchens and scores of artisan merchants with handcrafted wares, the Renaissance Faire invites guests to immerse themselves in the 35-acre village and experience the fantasy. Each weekend will showcase a unique theme: August 26 & 27 Myths and Legends.
