Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend and through Tuesday, October 31!
Friday October 27th
Greencastle Halloween Parade will be held Friday October 27 at 7PM. The parade begins and ends at the Jerome King Playground.
The Shippensburg Historical Society is offering a tour of the Stewart House to see how the family lived, with a haunted twist. The event is Friday, October 27 with tours beginning at 8PM. Admission ($3 for members and $5 for non members) includes haunted guided tour and refreshments. After the Haunted History Tour, stick around for a spooky Movie Night.
Friday October 27 is Franklin Hardware & Pet’s Trick or Treat throughout the store. Refreshments/snacks. Animal Costume Contest – Submit pictures of your pets dressed for Halloween. Turn in a picture in person or submit on Facebook. 20% off Entire store from 4PM – 7PM.
Halloween Pipes Spooktacular is a concert featuring area organists and friends at Mercersburg Academy Chapel. Costumes welcome, Trick or Treat for Kids. The free concert is Friday October 27 beginning at 7:30PM.
Come to Monkey Joe’s Camp Hill for their Halloween party on October 27 (10AM – 8PM). There will be $8.00 admission, prizes, giveaways and more.
Saturday October 28th
The 17th Annual Great Outdoors Festival takes place at the Whitetail Ski Resort in Mercersburg. The festival will be held on October 28 & 29, from 10AM until 5PM each day and will feature crafts, food, demonstrations, and more! Kids Activities include Barnyard Buddies, Seeing Eye Puppy Club, Archery Target Shoot, 4-H Pony Rides ($3), Barrel Train and Activity Area. All ages will enjoy the Climbing Wall, Paintball Target Shoot, Haunted Hall, Snowmaking Tours, Chairlift Rides, and Snow Groomer Display. See Apple Butter and Blacksmith Demos, PSU Mont Alto Woodsmen Team, and Birds of Prey. Adult tickets are $9 and Seniors/Children (ages 6 – 12) are $5. Admission is free for children age 5 and under.
Trick or Treat with downtown Chambersburg Merchants – Saturday October 28 from 11AM – 1PM. (Costume Contest at Courthouse Plaza. Prizes will be given for best costume in two age groups – 6 & under, 7-13).
Community Trick or Treat at Elmcroft Senior Living will be October 28 from 1:30PM – 3:30PM. Kids 12 and under are welcome to dress up in costume and collect goodies from the residents. Halloween snacks & drinks will be served. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Scariest costume, Funniest costume, and Most Original costume. Elmcroft is located at 129 Walnut Bottom Road, Shippensburg.
Shippensburg Community Parks & Recreation Authority is hosting a Fall Fest on Saturday, October 28 from 5PM – 8PM at Veteran’s Stadium Memorial Park. This is a free community event & social gathering which includes candy for trick or trunk (6-8PM) and family fun activities. Hay ride, obstacle course, pumpkin patch, photo booth, carnival games, costume contest, first responders, free coffee/hot chocolate.
Shippensburg Historical Society is offering a Kids Trick or Treat on Saturday October 28 from 6PM-8PM. Crafts, fun, candy, costumes! Bring the kids for a fun evening at the Shippensburg History Center where you will get to do a fun craft with the staff and then trick or treat throughout the house. Historically inspired costumes are encouraged. Free Admission.
Stony Ridge Fall Fest will be held October 28 at Stony Ridge Park from 11AM – 4PM. Arts & crafts, food, hay rides, trick-or-treating for kids 12 and under, BMX Bike Pro Rider Stunt Show, hay maze & petting zoo, face painting & inflatable games, music on the main lawn, and karate & tae kwan do demonstrations. 50 Bernheisel Bridge Road, Carlisle.
The Annual Halloween Event at Red Run Park will be on Saturday, October 28. The evening will feature a Costume Parade, Train Ride, Fire Truck Ride, and more from 4–6:30 PM. All activities are free of charge! Red Run Park is located at 12143 Buchanan Trail East, Waynesboro.
St. John’s United Church of Christ Fall Festival (1811 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg) is this Saturday, October 28 from 8AM – 2PM. Flea Market, Bake Sale, African violets, Kinton’s Woodworks. Stop by for lunch and support the Boy Scouts at the concession stand. Fun free activities for the kids with the magician, games & inflatables, zoo zoo land.
PetSmart In-store Event: Dress your pet in their Halloween best for an exclusive photo with PetSmart’s Chance the Dog from Noon – 3PM.
The Mid-Atlantic Reptile Expo is a sales and educational event geared toward reptile & amphibian enthusiasts on Oct. 28 from 9AM – 4PM at the Carlisle Expo Center. Admission is $5 for all guests 13 years of age and older, guests 12 and under are free.

Sunday October 29, go on a Halloween Ty Beanie Boo Scavenger Hunt at the Carlisle Sports Emporium from 2PM-6PM. Once you have found all six (6) plush characters on our Trick-or-Treat form, redeem your form for a $10 Reloadable Play Card for the Carlisle Sports Emporium.
Monday October 30
Costume Dance Party at Studio Z in Shippensburg on Monday, October 30th at 6PM! Club lights and an awesome sound system. Open to public. FREE admission.
The Newville Halloween Parade will be on Monday, October 30 at 7PM.
Tuesday October 31
The Halloween Alternative, Light In The Night 2017 hosted by Mongul United Brethren will be October 31 from 6 PM – 8 PM at Shippensburg Township Park on Britton Road. A safe and well-lit alternative to trick-or-treating with music, inflatables, hay maze, games & activities, emergency vehicles, food and candy. Costumes welcome. Non-food treats will be available for those with food allergies. This is a free event.
Visit Chick-fil-A Chambersburg for Trunk or Treat on October 31 (4PM – 6PM). Join Chick-fil-A Chambersburg, Country Creek Produce Farm, 92.1 Hits FM, and others for candy & fun treats!

Weekend Ongoing Activities
Lake Tobias Wildlife Park is having BOO! at the Zoo. Children 12 years and younger wearing a Halloween costume receive FREE Park Admission (does not include Safari Tour) and can stop at Trick or Treat Candy Stations. Free Pumpkin Decorating Activity for kids while supplies last. Saturday, October 28 & Sunday, October 29, 10AM – 4PM.
Visit Hersheypark in the Dark’s final weekend in 2017 – October 27-29. Giant is selling discounted tickets!
2017 Hershey Garden’s Pumpkin Glow – October 27 & 28, 6PM – 8:30PM. During Hershey Garden’s Pumpkin Glow, the gardens pathways will be lined with more than 150 carved, illuminated and themed pumpkins. Kids ages 12 and younger are invited to bring a flashlight and come in costume while trick-or-treating at eight candy stops throughout the Gardens.
Happy Hauntings, Dutch Wonderland Family Amusement Park, 2249 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster will feature 30 themed non scary rides, special entertainment, and the Trick-or-Treat Trail – a safe, interactive trick-or-treating experience. The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire is held on the grounds of the Mount Hope Estate. With over 90 stage shows daily, 22 Royal Kitchens and scores of artisan merchants with handcrafted wares, the Renaissance Faire invites guests to immerse themselves in the 35-acre village and experience the fantasy. Each weekend will showcase a unique theme. This weekend’s theme: Halloween Daze & Spooky Knights III
Stoner’s Dairy Farm and Corn Maze offers weekend Fall activities. Normal weekend offerings include sea themed corn maze, hayride, petting zoo, pedal carts, corn cannon, scarecrow factory, food and more. Friday night (Oct.27) is a Haunted Maze Night – $7 per person – from 7PM – 10PM.
Country Creek Produce Farm is home to The Oregon Trail corn maze and more family friendly Fall fun. The farm’s attractions include the corn maze, jump pad, peddle track, quad mountain slides, u-pick pumpkins, hayrides, animals, pumpkin cannon, and more.
