Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in South Central PA!
Shippensburg
Katie’s Place Thrift Shop is having its next monthly sale this week, March 29, 30, 31 from 8AM – Noon. The store is located at the old Martin’s Bakery Building (go down the hill to the bottom of the building) at the corner of S. Penn and E. Garfield Streets.
Phantom Shadow is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt and Bounce Fun Day on March 31, 11AM – 1PM at Shippensburg Memorial Park. Photos with the Bunny and a bounce house in addition to candy and egg hunting. All ages.
The Local Gathering Church of the Nazarene presents a free Easter Egg Hunt with Silly Saturdays Weird Animals on March 31. The event includes music, craft, egg hunt, and light refreshments. Babies to 10 years old. The sections will be from 0-3; 4-5; 6-7; 8-10 years old. Adult Egg hunt following at 11:30AM.
Mongul United Brethren will hold its 9th annual Easter Eggs-travaganza on Saturday, March 31 from 10AM-Noon (with registration opening at 9:15) at Shippensburg Township Park on Britton Road! This FREE event includes food, activities and crafts for the kids – plus giveaways! There will be over 15,000 eggs for the hunt. Start times for the egg hunt are staggered by age group: 10:00 – 3 and under, 10:10 – 4-5 years, 10:20 – 6-7 years, 10:30 – 8-11 years, 10:40 – Special Needs (16 & under), 11:00 – Giveaways. All day Easter Sunday, April 1, Moms eat free with the purchase of a meal of equal or greater value at Arooga’s. Dine-in Only. Lesser value item is discounted.
Newville/Carlisle
The American Legion Post 421 is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31 beginning at Noon for children ages 0-10 at 10 Little League Ave., Newville.
Newville First Church of God’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday, March 31. 9:30AM meet the Easter Bunny, 10AM The Meaning of Easter and Egg Hunt. Lots of prizes and giveaways.
The Green Spring First Church of God will host its Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31, 2018 beginning at 1PM. Approximately 4,000 filled eggs. Children will be split into age groups: 3 and under, 4-6, 7-8, and 9-10, and also an area for special needs guests.
Carlisle United Methodist Church is having their Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31, 1PM-3PM at Mt. Asbury Retreat Center (1310 Centerville Road, Newville). There will be food, fun, games, puppets, prizes and more! Egg hunts for infants through 5th grade. Sign up at HERE.
Chambersburg
Gander Outdoors, formerly known as Gander Mountain, is now open at 3285 Black Gap Road, Chambersburg. A special grand opening event is planned for Saturday, March 31, 2018. The grand opening will kick off at 9AM with free pastries and coffee in the morning. Children will be able to paint a lure 11AM – 2 PM and build a duck call from 1-3PM. The event includes storewide savings on a huge assortment of products and giveaways.
The Easter Bunny will be at the Chambersburg Mall on Friday, March 30 & Saturday, March 31 from Noon – 8PM.
Easter Egg Hunt at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, 346 Warm Spring Road will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018. Ages 3-10 can enjoy fun activities, an egg hunt & snacks! Activities at 10AM. Egg Hunt at 10:30AM. Rain or shine.
A Community Easter Fun Day is planned by the Salvation Army of Chambersburg on Saturday, March 31, 10AM – 2PM. You may call the office to preregister at 717-234-6169 (not required).
The Inn at Ragged Edge hosts a free classical piano concert featuring artist Liana Paniyeva on March 31, 7PM – 10PM. Liana has won numerous international piano competitions and has performed several times at Carnegie Hall. Light refreshments will be served.
Waynesboro
WaynesboroFest invites you to this years Easter Egg Hunt at Memorial Park on March 31 at 3PM. This is a free event for children 12 and younger.
Greencastle
Greencastle Lions Club will sponsor a Community Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31 at Tayamentasachta Environmental Center at 1PM.
Biglerville/Gettysburg
Hop Along the Bunny Trail at Hollabaugh’s Brothers Fruit Farm and Market on Saturday, March 31, anytime between 10AM – 1PM. Egg hunts will be broken up into three age groups, and will occur every 20 minutes. Recommended for ages 8 and under (flexible). Registration fee per participating child ($8) includes Easter egg hunt, photo opportunities with Easter Bunny, unlimited wagon rides, craft time, “Fairy Tale Trail” walking story trail in orchards, and much more. Free admission for parents and grandparents. Children are encouraged to bring their own baskets. Registration is not required for this event. Rain or shine.
Land of Little Horses Farm Park will be hosting Easter Eggstravaganza at the park on Saturday, March 31, 2018, 10AM – 5PM. In addition to visiting the little horses, activities include Arts & Crafts, Pose with the Easter Bunny, and a Scavenger Hunt. All the fun extras are included with regular admission rates. Admission Rates: Adult – $15.95 (age 12 and up); Child – $13.95 (age 6 – 11); Toddler – $11.95 (age 2 – 5). The Farm Park opens for the season on March 30.
The Outlet Shoppes of Gettysburg will have an Easter Event on Saturday, March 31 from Noon – 3PM. Visit with the Easter Bunny, Games, Prizes, Face Painting, and Complimentary Carriage Rides. Meet your favorite mascots too! Donate a new toy to the Children’s Cancer Recovery Foundation and help a child in need.
Hanover
Bring the family out to the Codorus State Park to make crafts and hunt Easter Eggs on Friday, March 30, 4PM. Go to the pavilions located off the parking lots to the swimming pool, off Rt. 216, Blooming Grove Rd. Look for signs! Ages 0 to 10. The Easter Bunny will make an appearance and there will be prizes, too. Open to the public and free admission.
Hershey
Springtime In The Park is open weekends March 30 through April 15. Enjoy a sweet day filled with thrills on 50 rides, including 13 coasters. Plus, catch up with your favorite Hershey’s Characters, visit ZooAmerica, and more. Regular admission is $35.95 and parking for cars is $9.
The AACA Museum, 161 Museum Drive will be having a Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31, 11AM–1:30PM. FREE for children (up to age 12) with a paid regular admission ($12). Children must be accompanied by at least one adult. Tickets must be purchased at the door to receive this special ticket rate. Guests will hunt to find a variety of “egg spots” within the main and lower levels of the Museum. Treats will be given to each child 12 and under at these treat locations. Hot dogs and popcorn, and pink lemonade while supplies last.
Maryland Events
Visit a sweet display of Marshmallow Masterpieces at Carroll Arts Center in Westminster, MD. The 11th Annual PEEPShow will be held from March 29 to April 10, 2018. The event features over 150 sculptures, dioramas, graphic arts, oversized characters and mosaics created and inspired by PEEPS! The show is open 10AM – 7PM Sunday – Thursday (including Easter Sunday) and 10AM – 9PM Friday – Saturday. Admission is FREE but visitors may buy voting chips to vote for your favorite display. Enjoy PEEP treats and souvenirs including official Peeps & Co merchandise in the gift shop too.
