Shippensburg
Shippensburg University’s Red Raider Football “Red-White” Game, is scheduled for Saturday, April 14 at Noon from SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium. Admission is free for all fans, tailgating is permitted (starts at 10 AM), Red Raider Marching Band will perform, concession stand will be open.
The official public opening of The Fashions of Fiction exhibit at the Shippensburg University Fashion Archives & Museum is Saturday, April 14, Noon – 4PM. The exhibit will explore the role of clothing and character in some of literature’s finest works. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and free for SU students and faculty.
The Doo Wop Project performs April 14, 8PM at the H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center, Shippensburg University. Five charismatic Broadway stars and a five-piece band perform classic doo wop songs from the ’50s and ’60s and make them sound fresh and new in a show for fans of all ages.
ShippenStitch is having a Grand Opening Event on April 14, 9AM – 5PM. The new business is located at 45 West King Street and features quilting, sewing, needlework.
Shippensburg Band Spring Concert is Sunday, April 15 at 2:30PM featuring highlights from Hamilton, La-La Land, Prokoviev’s March 99 and Keystone March. The concert will be held at the Shippensburg Area High School auditorium.
Newville
Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is opening for the season on Friday, April 13, 2018. Showing on opening weekend (Friday-Saturday, April 13 – 14) will be “Rampage” and “Tomb Raider.” Both films are rated PG-13. Gates open at 7PM. First feature begins at approximately 8PM. Admission: $8 Adults, $4 Children ages 3-12, free for Children Under 3. You may reserve your space here.
Big Spring Theatre Productions and the Big Spring Music Department will present Phantom of the Opera, 6 shows over two weekends. Online tickets here.
Dillsburg
The first annual Dill’s Celtic Festival is April 14 from 9:30AM to 5PM at the Historic Dills Tavern. Celebrate the Celtic history and heritage of what is now Northern York County at this family-friendly event. Celtic crafters, artisans, vendors of traditional Celtic foods and beverages, musicians, dancers, and more will be a part of the festival. Tickets are $10 per person, and free for children 12 and under.
Chambersburg
UR Sweet Repeats Spring/Summer Children’s & Maternity Sale is this week. Amvets Pavilion, 750 5th Avenue (located near Norland Ave Shopping Centers). April 12, 7AM – 7PM; April 13, 7AM – 7PM; April 14, 7AM – 1PM (50% off selected items).
Chambersburg Mall will be having a “Critters & Crafts” Spring Event, April 14, 10AM – 8PM. Craft and Direct Sales Vendors will be set up around the stage in the middle of the mall.
An Early Childhood Learning Expo will be held at the Brethren Fellowship Church, 339 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg on April 14 from 10AM to 1PM. The Expo is free to attend and provides information and fun activities/events for families. Bring the kids for fun learning based activities and learn about resources available in our community. Touch a truck – fire truck, a school bus, the Bookmobile and other big trucks.
Nitterhouse Masonry & Hardware Store at 859 Cleveland Ave, Chambersburg is having a Spring Mega Sale on April 14, 8AM – 4PM.
The Wilson College Veterinary Medical Technology Club will host dog washes from 9AM to 4PM on Saturday and Sunday, April 14 and 15, in the college veterinary building near the main entrance to campus. The cost is $10 for small dogs, $15 for medium dogs, $20 for large dogs and $25 for extra-large or double-coated dogs. Prices: includes ear clean, nail trim, bath, and blow dry. Owners must present a paper copy of their dog’s rabies vaccination.
Civil War Re-enactment and Living History event will take place on April 14 & 15, 2018 at C.V. Antique Engine Grounds, 1501 Crider’s Church Rd (Twin Bridges). Open to public, free entry & parking. Camps open 9AM until 9PM each day. Come see how the soldiers lived during the Civil War. Battle scenarios both days. Lunch stand on premises, steak dinner Saturday evening starting at 4PM ($12). Outdoor church service on Sunday at 9AM.
A Johnny Cash Tribute will be presented on April 14, 7PM at the Capital Theatre in Chambersburg. James Garner and his musicians honor the life of Johnny Cash with strong and stunning accuracy. Tickets: $33 General Admission, $28 Seniors, $18 Students.
Waynesboro
Renfrew Museum and Park kicks off their 43rd season on Saturday, April 14 with an Open House & Art Show. The exquisitely decorated Royer-Nicodemus Museum House will be open for free walk through tours from 1PM to 4PM. Renfrew is pleased to welcome Becky Dietrich and other local artists highlighting a “Flora, Fauna, and Folkways of Earlier Times” art show as the season opening exhibit.
All ages are welcome to enjoy a Spring Fun Fly on April 14, 10AM – 4PM with expert kite flying help from Kite Masters—Sam Adams and George Adams—in the meadow behind the museum house at Renfrew Park. The event is open to all ages and there is no fee for flying. Participants should bring their own kites. A Build a Kite workshop is scheduled. There is a $1 donation to cover materials.
Bigerville
Learn about butterflies at Taylor’s Greenhouse in Biglerville on Saturday April 14! Folk’s Butterfly Farm will feature their walk-in Flight House full of butterflies for kids of all ages to enjoy from 10AM – 4PM. The cost is $3/person. You will be able to feed the butterflies and take pictures while in the enclosure. There will be informal presentations on butterflies and showcasing plants to help make a butterfly garden of your own! Taylor’s Greenhouse is located behind the South Mountain Fairground at 265 Fairgrounds Rd., Biglerville. For more upcoming events, go to Taylor’s Greenhouse.
York
Pennsylvania Herb & Garden Festival is April 14, 9AM – 5PM at the York Expo Center – Utz Area. Nationally-known speakers and workshops (workshops require a fee and advanced registration), more then 100 vendors of plants, herbal crafts and products for the gardener, cook and crafter will be offered. Admission rates: $7 ages 13 and old. Free parking.
Hershey
Springtime In The Park is open weekends through April 15. Enjoy a sweet day filled with thrills on 50 rides, including 13 coasters. Plus, catch up with your favorite Hershey’s Characters, visit ZooAmerica, and more. Regular admission is $35.95 and parking for cars is $9.
