Fourth of July welcomes colorful displays of fireworks to our local communities. Here is our 2018 listing for Shippensburg, Carlisle, Chambersburg, Waynesboro, Gettysburg, Harrisburg, Hershey, Hagerstown and Newville!
Fireworks
Carlisle – July 3. Stars Burst Over Carlisle Fireworks Show at the Carlisle Fairgrounds will be on Tuesday, July 3, 9:45PM. Rain date for the fireworks will be July 4 at 9:45PM. Any cancellation will be announced at 5PM the day of the fireworks.
Shippensburg – July 4. Shippensburg Community Parks and Recreation Authority will be hosting Shippensburg’s 4th of July Celebration at Memorial Park, Park Place. Celebrate with family and friends and enjoy swimming, pool games, live music, and fireworks on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. The Memorial Park Pool will be open to the public for FREE (Noon – 5PM). Pool games will begin at 1:30PM and will include relay races in the shallow and deep end, cannon ball contest, pop drop, kiddie pool games, and water balloon toss. *UPDATE: The Memorial Park Pool closed early because of thunder/lightning. Veterans Stadium gates will open at 6PM for spectators to set up chairs or blankets to watch the firework show. The Shippensburg Town Band entertains beginning at 8PM. The annual Candy Scramble will take place at 9:15PM. Fireworks will start at approximately 9:30PM.
Chambersburg – July 4. *UPDATE: The Fireworks in Chambersburg are scheduled for July 7, 2018. Food Stands will open at Noon on Saturday. Enjoy the low show Fireworks display at Chambersburg Memorial Park beginning at dusk (9:30PM). The annual 4th of July Fireworks and Events will be held July 4 at Chambersburg’s Memorial Park. A Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Cruise In is scheduled from Noon – 4PM. Food stands will be available (hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, and drinks). The Chambersburg Aquatic Center will be open with special pricing – $2 (Boro) and $5 (Non-residents). The 21 Day Retreat’s final flag ceremony will begin at 7PM. At 7:30PM, listen to the patriotic sounds of the Mercersburg Community Band in the band shell on the west end of the park. Fireworks will begin at 9:30PM.
Waynesboro – July 4. The Waynesboro Summer Jubilee is a patriotic festival held each summer to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday. This year’s event will be held Wednesday, July 4, 2018 in the area across from the Waynesboro Hospital. The celebration features a full day of free entertainment, patriotic exhibits and exciting activities for children and adults of all ages. The day begins with a 1 Mile Kid’s Fun Run & 5K followed by a parade in the morning (10:30AM). The event offers live entertainment, food, drink, and craft vendors throughout the day, and concludes with the annual fireworks display at dusk.
Gettysburg – July 4. Celebrate the 4th of July in Gettysburg with a patriotic pops concert and fireworks show. Popular local band, The Willys, will kick off the evening with a 90-minute set beginning at 6PM. Afterwards, the Gala Pops Orchestra will perform a concert featuring popular American tunes and marches. Fireworks will be launched at approximately 9:30PM as the concert concludes from the southern end of the Gettysburg College campus. Rain date is July 5.
Hagerstown, MD – July 4. The city of Hagerstown will host fireworks at Fairgrounds Park, 351 N. Cleveland Avenue. Food vendors on site from 6PM. Fireworks begin at 9:30PM. Free Shuttle Service: Park at Municipal Stadium and take the shuttle to the Park.
Hersheypark – July 4. Hear the Hersheypark Band play the national anthem to officially kickoff Independence Day at 9:50AM (Gates open at 10AM). Fireworks will be displayed over Hershey at 10:15PM for Hersheypark guests and the local community. Included with admission to park.
Harrisburg – July 4. Taste of Independence Food Truck Festival and Fireworks Show on Riverfront Park is a one-day family friendly free event beginning at 3PM featuring 40 food trucks, live music, kids activities, and performance by the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra. Children’s Festival activities are free and include glitter tattoos, caricatures and balloons. Superheroes and princesses will meet and pose for pictures. Lawn games and activities will be available for play and children can also make a superhero mask with a princess or superhero for $5. The fireworks will begin at approximately 9:15PM. Street parking on July 4 will be free, parking on City Island will be $5, and there will be $10 parking in the Market Square Garage.
Newville – July 13. The Newville Lions Club fair at the Newville Fairgrounds will have their annual Fireworks Show on Friday, July 13 at 10PM.
