August 11: Family Fun Day
Join the Shippensburg Chamber of Commerce for a Family Event at the Shippensburg Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 11. The Family Fun Day will be held from 11AM – 2PM and is a fun way for families to gain valuable information on programs available in our area. FREE Pizza, FREE Entertainment, & Giveaways! This is a rain or shine event for families and children.
August 11: Blessing of the Backpacks
The 10th Annual Blessing of the Backpacks will be held on Saturday, August 11 from 4PM – 7PM in Shippensburg. Many Shippensburg churches, local organizations and non-profits will come together at Memorial Lutheran Church to provide school supplies for area students. All events and activities are FREE including Dinner. Carnival Games to win School Supplies (every child will win); at 7PM Blessing of the Backpacks and Door Prizes.
August 17: Outdoor Movie
Avengers: Infinity War will be shown outside at Shippensburg Township Park, 304 Britton Road, on Friday, August 17 at dusk. Admission is FREE.
August 17: Greyhound Community Night
The Annual Community Night for the Greyhound Athletes and Greyhound Community is August 17, 5PM – 8PM. The event is free and held inside the Shippensburg Area High School. Sports tickets and booster clubs will be selling merchandise and food.
August 18: Duck Dodge 5K
Duck Dodge 5K, Run or Walk will be held Saturday August 18, 9AM at Dykeman Park & Trails in Shippensburg. 5K complex of different loops cross country course (weave through nature trails). Online registration ($20 registration includes a T-shirt) is HERE. Same day registration and packet pickup will begin at 7:30AM. Registration closes 15 minutes before the event starts. This event is hosted by and proceeds benefit the Shippensburg Community Parks and Recreation Authority. Rain or Shine.
August 18: Splash Party
Shippensburg Community Park & Recreation is hosting an after hour Splash Party on Saturday, August 18. From 8PM – 10PM, swim under the lights at Memorial Park Pool. Admission is $3 for all ages (2 & under free). Included with Membership.
August 25: Shippensburg Corn Festival
The 38th Annual Shippensburg Corn Festival will be held Saturday, August 25 from 8AM – 4PM. Downtown streets are closed to traffic and transformed into a huge street fair for the day. More than 250 craft and food vendors, an antique car show, free family entertainment and a corn eating contest. This is a rain or shine event.
August 26: Doggie Dip
On August 26 bring your four-legged friend for a dip in the Shippensburg Memorial Park Pool from 1 – 4PM! $5 per dog with two people. Your dog(s) must be leashed, licensed and properly vaccinated. A registration form is available HERE.
September 1: Demolition Derby
The Demolition Derby at the Shippensburg Fairgrounds will be held Saturday, September 1 at 7:30 PM. Admission is $10 (adult), Ages 7-12: $5, Children 6 & under admitted free! Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food is available for purchase.
September 8: Stream Awareness Day
On September 8, the Middle Spring Watershed Association will hold their annual Stream Awareness Day. There will be live aquatic exhibits, stream-related activities and games. This event beginning at 10AM will take place at the area behind Shippensburg Borough Offices at 111 N. Fayette Street and Burd Street, across from McCune Lumber. Hot dogs and light refreshments will be available for purchase. A Rubber Duck Derby (tickets $5) will begin at Noon.
September 14 & 15: Uprise Festival
Uprise Festival ’18, a Christian music festival will be held September 14 and September 15 at the Shippensburg Fairgrounds. Artists & Speakers, Camping, Grit N Wit, Kids Zone, Petting zoo, Food vendors, Meet & Greets, Giveaways and more! For full line up and ticket info visit uprisefest.com.
September 22: Beer and Wine Festival
Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce, D.O.I.T. and SADCO (Shippensburg Area Development Corporation) have joined forces to bring a Beer and Wine Festival to Shippensburg. On September 22, enjoy beer & wine tastings, live music, games of chance, yard games & food! Attendees MUST be 21 years or older and ID is required. The event will be held at the Shippensburg Fair grounds from 1PM-5PM. For tickets, go here.
September 29: 2nd Annual Library Celebration Day
Come celebrate the Shippensburg Public Library on September 29, 9AM – 2PM. Activities include an open air market, community band, chicken dinner/bake sale (hosted by the Friends of the library), authors, and programs for children and adults.
September 29: Farm to Table Dinner
The 2018 Farm to Table Dinner organized by Shippensburg D.O.I.T will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 5PM. Tickets can be purchased here or from Jalex at 128 E King St, Shippensburg. Menu includes: steamship round, pulled pork, tossed salad, spinach walnut salad w/ maple syrup/Dijon mustard dressing, pasta salad, baked potato, baked sweet potato, beet & onion salad, pepper slaw, fresh corn, carrots w/ peach glaze, desserts and more!
Ongoing – Every Monday through October: Open Air Market
Southampton Township Cumberland County Open Air Market features local homegrown produce and handmade artists. It is located at 180 Airport Road, Shippensburg. Hours: Mondays 3PM – 7PM through September 24. Mondays 3PM – 6PM in October.
