McLain Celtic Festival | September 1 & 2
McLain Celtic Festival will take place on Labor Day Weekend, September 1 & 2. The festival in Carlisle at the Two Mile House celebrates Cumberland County’s Scots-Irish Heritage.
Enjoy family-oriented fun featuring Celtic Music and Dance, Food, Highland Athletics, Border Collie demonstrations, and vendors selling Irish and Scottish goods. Throughout the weekend children can get into the Celtic spirit through hands-on crafts and mini-highland games activities. There will also be stories and a bagpipe demonstration. There will be face painting from 10AM-4PM Saturday and 10AM-2PM Sunday.
On Saturday and Sunday, Men at Arms will provide demonstrations on sword fighting techniques throughout the day.
New events this year include a Haggis eating competition ($10 to enter), a shortbread baking competition, as well as a free Saturday outdoor movie showing Disney’s “Brave.” Gates to the movie seating area open at 7PM, pictures with lead character “Merida” will be available at 7:30PM, and the movie starts at 8PM.

Festival hours are 9AM to 5PM Sept. 1 and 9AM to 3PM Sept. 2. Admission is $10/single day or $15/weekend. Children 13 and under are free.
The festival location is Two Mile House, 1189 Walnut Bottom Rd., Carlisle, PA (across from the Kmart). Handicapped parking is at the Quality Care pharmacy that is just past the Two Mile House.
