SHIPPENSBURG
You are invited to join WITF at the Shippensburg Recreation Center for a Ready, Set, Explore event with Katerina Kittycat. On Saturday, October 6, 9AM – 11AM children will create fun arts and crafts, create building projects, and meet Katerina Kittycat. This is a free, family event but RSVP is required by completing the form HERE!
Pumpkin Patch Playtime will be held October 6, 1PM – 4PM at The Local Gathering, 611 Shippensburg Rd. Pumpkin Painting; Bobbing for Apples; Pumpkin Bowling; Pin the Stem on the Pumpkin and Fishing for Candy. Ticket prices $5/child or $20/immediate family.
NEWVILLE/CARLISLE
Carlisle Ocktoberfest at the Army Heritage and Education Center is a four-day, family-oriented event. The event features carnival rides, games, a soccer match, entertainment, food, beer garden, local wine, contests, and arts & crafts. Festivities run from 4PM to 9PM Thursday and Friday, 11AM to 9PM Saturday and 11AM to 7PM Sunday.
Maple Lane Farm’s Corn Maze in Newville is open weekends. The 4 acre Corn Maze is in the shape of the historic Laughlin Mill. Search the maze for all 10 clue signs. In addition to exploring the maze, children will enjoy the corn pit. Fun photo ops too! Saturdays from 10AM-7PM, Sundays from 2PM-6PM.
Garden Harvest Day at Kings Gap is Sunday, October 7. From Noon to 5PM, the Friends of Kings Gap, Cumberland County Master Gardeners and Kings Gap staff will have a variety of activities for all ages. A nominal fee will be charged for “make and take” items but parking and admission are free!
Meadowbrooke Gourds will host a Sunflower Festival on October 6 & 7, 10AM – 6PM. Pick FREE sunflowers. Fall Oops Sale. Horse drawn hayride around the field. Nomad Cuisine will be selling food.
Warehime’s Pumpkin Patch is open for the Fall Season. The pumpkin patch (and FREE Sunflowers) is just a short distance from Meadowbrooke Gourds. Hours: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays from 4PM-7PM, Saturdays from Noon-7PM and Sundays from Noon – 5PM.
East Pennsboro Township hosts a two day Pumpkin Fest featuring crafts, food, games, contests and entertainment. Car show Saturday. The event is held in Adams-Ricci Park on Saturday October 6 from 9:30AM to 5PM and Sunday October 7 from 11AM to 5PM.
Cross the Creek Farm offers Pick-Your-Own-Pumpkins priced by the size, not by pound ($1.75 – $7.50). Fridays and Saturdays 10AM – 6PM.
Fall Carlisle Collector Car Swap Meet, 1000 Bryn Mawr Road Carlisle will take place October 5 – 7. Explore one of the world’s largest automotive swap meets, featuring 150 acres and 8,100 vending spaces. Carlisle Fairgrounds, Carlisle.

Ashcombe Farm and Greenhouse’s Fall Harvest Days continue this weekend. Enjoy family friendly activities in the Fall themed event field. Wrist band passes available. Farm animals, games, corn boxes, slides, swings, knocker ball, hay jump, corn and hay bale maze.

North Square Farmers Market at 50 N. Main Street, Chambersburg is Saturday from 8AM to Noon.
There will be a free fall carnival on October 6 at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, 346 Warm Spring Rd., Chambersburg, From 11AM-2PM, enjoy a Bounce house, face painting, free food, “snazzy balloons,” games and crafts.
The Jewish Food and Heritage Festival on October 7, 12:30 – 3:30PM at Congregation Sons of Israel, 209 E. King St., Chambersburg, will feature homemade Jewish food and Klezmer Jewish music by the music group AlleZingun. Tickers: $15.
Country Creek Produce Farm in Chambersburg is open for Fall fun. The farm’s attractions include “The Great Space Adventure” corn maze, jump pad, peddle track, quad mountain slides, u-pick pumpkins, hayrides, animals, pumpkin cannon, and more!
Special Events of St. Paul United Methodist Church is pleased to present The Eaken Piano Trio in concert this Sunday, October 7, at 3PM in the church nave located at 750 Norland Avenue Chambersburg. The concert will feature classical selections. A free will offering will be taken.

Shady Grove’s Annual Fall Fest will take place on October 6 & 7. Craft, direct sales, and yard sale/flea market vendors. Also, there will be a Kid’s Zone. Children’s activities will include a hay maze, pumpkin decorating, and carnival style games.

Stoner’s Dairy Farm and Corn Maze offers plenty of weekend Fall activities. They are hosting a special event on October 6 with added fun for $7 per person. Attractions include Corn Maze, Mini Maze, Hayrides, Petting Zoo, Pedal Cart Track, Play Area, Giant Inflatable, Wagon-Driven Farm Tours, Pumpkin Contest, and Prizes & Giveaways. Stoner’s Dairy is a short drive off I-81 at 7678 Oellig Road in Mercersburg.

Market Day on October 6 features all-day entertainment, including live music, dancing demonstrations, sidewalk sales, children’s activities and dozens of craft, specialty and food vendors. Entries in the annual Scarecrow Contest are displayed along Main Street lamp posts. The event takes place 9AM – 4PM on Main Street in Waynesboro.
Renfrew’s 3rd Annual Oktoberfest will be on October 6 at Main Street Park from 4PM- 9PM. Admission is $50 per person at the door. All attendees must be 21 years of age or older. German fare, specially crafted beer, live entertainment, games and silent auctions.

The National Apple Harvest Festival held during the first two full weekends in October celebrates beautiful crafts, great music and wonderful food. This year the festival will be held on October 6 & 7 and October 13 & 14, 2018. The festival has something for everyone with hundreds of arts and crafts dealers, demonstrations, contests, food stands and entertainment. Special attractions include the Apple Auditorium and antique cars, steam engine displays, orchard tours, petting zoo, craftsman demonstrations, and appearances by the Pennsylvania Apple Queen, all included in your one-price admission. The Little Buffalo Festival on October 6 at Little Buffalo State Park will host musicians on three stages, arts, crafts, the Buffalo Kids Artsfest, poetry readings, workshops, demonstrations and great food. Admission is free but donations are accepted. Hours: Noon to dusk, rain or shine.

The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire is held on the grounds of the Mount Hope Estate. With over 90 stage shows daily, 20 Royal Kitchens and scores of artisan merchants with handcrafted wares, the Renaissance Faire invites guests to immerse themselves in the 35-acre village and experience the fantasy. Each weekend will showcase a unique theme. This weekend, October 6 & 7: Autumn Harvest
