Free Embassy Tours in Washington DC
Experience the World by visiting Washington DC during the first two Saturdays in May. You can step inside a foreign embassy with the Around the World Embassy Tour and the European Union (EU) Open House. Both embassy open house experiences are FREE! Many embassies require a photo ID for admission.

The Around the World Embassy Tour is the signature event of Passport DC, an annual celebration of international culture in Washington DC. More than 40 embassies are expected to open their doors on May 4. From 10AM – 4PM, participants will travel the world as they experience the food, art, dance, fashion, and music of different countries. In the days leading up to the event, Cultural Tourism DC will release a full list of participating embassies and a map.

The EU Open House will be May 11. Visitors to the EU Delegation and the embassies of the EU member states will enjoy the authentic music, dance, food, film, and art of 28 distinctive nations. Participants in the embassy open houses include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Each embassy will open their doors to the public from 10AM until 4PM, offering a rare look inside the buildings.
