Kick off the Summer with these fairs and festivals found in South Central PA.  There is something for everyone taking place in Shippensburg, Chambersburg, Carlisle, and beyond!  Read on for a listing of some of the best festivals in June.


JUNE 2019
Foundry Day Arts & Crafts Festival | June 1, 2019 | BOILING SPRINGS

The Foundry Day Arts & Crafts Festival is a juried arts and crafts festival held the first Saturday of June next to the Children’s Lake in Boiling Springs.  The festival runs from 9AM to 4PM and features the original works of 100 fine artists and craftsmen, music, entertainment, food and more.  Admission is free.  Rain or shine.  Free parking and shuttles from the Boiling Springs high school parking lot.

Strawberry Festival | June 1 -2, 2019 | BIGLERVILLE

Hollabaugh Bros., Inc. Fruit Farm & Market is having their 4th annual Strawberry Festival on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 from Noon – 4:30PM.  Fresh Strawberry Sundaes, Strawberry Pies, Strawberries n’ Shortcake, Strawberry activities for kids, Face Painting, Bounce House, and Wagon Rides.  Saturday, listen to Paul Zavinsky play a variety of blues, country, folk and more. Then Sunday, enjoy FlipSide playing a variety of oldies but goodies at 1 and 3PM. Admission to the festival is free; however, some activities have additional cost.

Furry Fun Days | June 1 – 2, 2019 | SHIPPENSBURG

Furry Fun Days is a two-day doggie carnival held June 1 and 2 from 9AM to 4PM.  The annual festival held at Shippensburg Township Park celebrates dogs and their people with games, food, demonstrations, vendors, and fun! Back for 2019 will also be the 2nd annual Paw Parade on Sunday, June at 9:30 AM to wrap up the weekend.  See the schedule of events, here.

Newville Rural Festival | June 1, 2019 | NEWVILLE

The Newville First Church of God is hosting its annual Newville Rural Festival on Saturday, June 1, 9AM – 3PM. The festival features over 50 craftsmen/exhibitors with antique tractors, classic & antique cars, motorcycles, hit & miss engines, spinning wheels, and more.  In addition, there will be food, live music, children’s entertainment, barrel train ride, Tillie the Clown, and more!  The event will be held rain or shine, and there will be free admission and parking.

Mount Parnell Lions Club Ox Roast | May 31 – June 1, 2019 | ST. THOMAS

Mount Parnell Lions will host their annual Ox Roast on Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1.  Food stands will open at noon.  Come out and enjoy ground and sliced beef sandwiches, hotdogs, homemade soups, french fries, milkshakes, ice cream, and cakes.  Entertainment begins at 6PM each evening (Friday “Guilford Station”, Saturday “Rumor Has It”).   There will also be bounce houses for the kids.

Marion Festivals | June 1, 8, 15, and 22, 2019 | MARION

The Marion Festivals sponsored by the Marion Athletic Association, Marion Town Committee, and Marion Volunteer Fire Company will be held on four Saturdays in June.  On June 1, June 8, June 15, and June 22 at the Festival Grounds in Marion enjoy good food, games, rides, and entertainment.  There will be three free shows each night – 6:15PM, 7:30PM, and 9PM.

  • Saturday, June 8: No Limit
  • Saturday, June 15: David King (two shows only)
  • Saturday, June 22: Make Mine Country

The kitchen will open at 4:30PM.  There is no charge to park.

Bloom Festival | June 8, 2019 | SHIIPPENSBURG

The Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 5th annual Bloom Festival in downtown Shippensburg on June 8 from 9AM – 3PM.  The festival includes craft, retail, and food vendors, plant and flower sales, music, and children’s activities.  The Bloom Festival takes place rain or shine in the Borough Parking lot (Burd Street), across from the Shippensburg Police Department.  Admission is free.  Free parking will be at the Fire Fighters Activity Center (Orange St. and Neff Ave).

The Battle of the Bagpipes | June 8, 2019 | SHIPPENSBURG

The Shippensburg Park & Recreation Authority will present the first annual Cumberland Valley Scottish Games in 2020. As a prelude, the first ever bag piping competition in Shippensburg will be June 8, 9AM – 3PM at the Shippensburg Train Station. The Battle of the Bagpipes will include numerous bagpipers competing to be crowned the best. Spectators can sit back and enjoy the Scottish sounds. Beer, wine, and food will be available.

Mason-Dixon Applachian Trail Outdoor Festival | June 8, 2019 | WAYNESBORO

Saturday, June 8, 2019, the Greater Waynesboro PA Area Appalachian Trail Community offers a chance for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds to learn more about the Trail in the Mason-Dixon area, and to enjoy a variety of activities. Children’s activities include making bubbles, making pine cone bird feeders, planting flowers, train rides from 1-4PM on the Red Run Express, and stories and games. Free admission, the public is welcome 10AM – 4PM, rain or shine, at Red Run Park in Rouzerville, just west of where the Appalachian Trail crosses PA Rt. 16. (12143 Buchanan Trail East)

Heritage Day | June 9, 2019 | CARLISLE

Celebrate the history and heritage of Kings Gap on Sunday, June 9, 1-5PM.  At Heritage Day, enjoy tours of the Carriage House and Cameron-Masland Mansion, live music from the era, and free horse-drawn wagon and carriage rides. Food including hotdogs and lemonade will be available for sale.  Have fun and learn with historic games, clothespin doll craft, a cake walk, ice cream making/tasting, special exhibits and more.  Kings Gap Environmental Education Center is located at 500 Kings Gap Rd., Carlisle, PA.

Spirit of 1756-Colonial Day | June 15, 2019 | FORT LOUDON

Life on the 1700s era frontier will be highlighted at this year’s Colonial Day, Saturday, June 15 from 10AM to 4PM at the State Historic Site of Fort Loudoun.  Throughout the day, there will be demonstrations of blacksmithing, construction, carpentry, weaving, and hearth cooking.  Participate in 18th century games, lectures, and competitions.  Food vendors will be on site.  Fort Loudoun is located 13 miles west of Chambersburg off Route 30 on North Brooklyn Road. Entry fee is $5 per car.

West Pennsboro Volunteer Fire Co. Annual Fair & Festival | June 13 – 15, 2019 | PLAINFIELD

The West Pennsboro Volunteer Fire Co. Fair & Festival is on three nights, June 13 – 15.  Plenty of homemade food, fun, and music!  Live Bands each Night:  Thursday – Ric LeBlanc & Bob Kissinger; Friday – North Mountain Ramblers; Saturday – Midlife Crisis.  Free parking and free admission.  The fair starts at 4PM nightly and is located at the fire company’s station, 20 Park Road in Plainfield.

Codorus Blast Festival | June 14, 15, and 16, 2019 | HANOVER

The Codorus Blast Festival at Codorus State Park in Hanover is June 14 – 16.  The Codorus Blast is an outdoor, 3 day fundraising event featuring live bands, butterfly house, free pontoon rides, vendors, Keystone Dock Dogs, helicopter rides, 5K race, kayak rides, and family movie night.  Fireworks over the lake on Saturday at 9:30PM.  Entrance to this event is at the band shell area off Sinsheim Rd, Hanover.  Entrance free is a $5 donation per car.

Newville Fountain Festival | June 14 – June 15, 2019 | NEWVILLE

The annual Newville Fountain Festival will return to the fountain in downtown Newville on June 14 & June 15.  This two-day event features a parade, craft vendors, food, live music, antique car show, historic tours of Newville, a petting zoo, baking contest, and children’s alley.

Mont Alto Firemen’s Carnival | June 14 – June 22, 2019 | MONT ALTO

The Mont Alto Firemen’s Carnival is 9 nights of family fun, great food, and plenty to do! Rides provided by Snyder’s Amusements. Kitchen opens at 5:30PM every evening. Live bands every evening but Wednesday.  On Wednesday evening there will be a karaoke contest. A firework display will be held on Friday, June 21 at dark.

Penn-Mar Irish Festival | June 15, 2019 | GLEN ROCK

The Penn-Mar Irish Festival is held annually on the third Saturday in June, near the Pennsylvania-Maryland border.  Featuring some of the best Irish musicians (traditional and contemporary) in Pennsylvania and Maryland, along with special guests, plus Irish dancers, Irish food, children’s activities, and a wide variety of vendors offering Irish goods including gifts, clothing, jewelry, music, books, pottery, photography, stained glass, and more.  Festival gates open at 10:30AM.  Admission at the gate will be $15 (ages 15 and younger are FREE).

Jubilee Day | June 20, 2019 | MECHANICSBURG

Jubilee Day, a one day street fair in downtown Mechanicsburg, is Thursday, June 20 from 10AM – 9PM.  This annual event features more than 325 vendors offering food, games, arts & crafts, business information, retail products, carnival rides and more. There is a children’s area and live entertainment on two stages.  The festival is free – unless you buy something, of course.

South Newton Township Vol. Fire Compan’s Fireman’s Fair | June 20 – 22, 2019 | WALNUT BOTTOM

South Newton Fireman’s Fair is June 20-22. Kitchen opens at 4PM each evening. The Fireworks are scheduled for Friday, June 21 and a rain date of Saturday, June 22.  Bands are scheduled as follows:  Thursday night – Chris Woodward and Shindiggin – Country; Friday Night – The Cards – 80’s Rock; Saturday Night – The Colt Wilbur Band.
