Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend! The listing also includes some deals for Moms on Mother’s Day.

Shippensburg

Southampton Twp Cumberland County (STCC) Park and Recreation is hosting a special night to celebrate Mothers and their sons on Friday, May 10 from 6PM – 8PM at the STCC Multi-Purpose Center. The night will be filled with crafts, snacks, games and dancing. For more information, go HERE.

On Saturday, May 11 at South Mountain Auto Sales (767 Walnut Bottom Rd) there will be 40+ vendors featuring homemade crafts and great food. The Mother’s Day Extravaganza will be held from 9AM – 3PM and provide an opportunity for you to get the perfect gift for your Mom for Mother’s Day. Rain or shine.

Join Paint the Town with Stephanie on Mother’s Day weekend to create a painting with your child. Guests will be painting the Bear Picture shown below on Saturday, May 11 at 1PM. You and your child will each have your own 8×10 canvas to create your “Mommy and Me” masterpiece. Children of all ages may attend. The cost is $25 for two pictures. Arooga’s Grille House & Sports Bar is offering Moms to eat FREE at all its participating locations on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12. (With purchase of equal or greater value. Lesser value item discounted. Dine-in only.)

The Luhrs Center is offering a BOGO discount in celebration of Mother’s Day on their upcoming May 12 show, “The Illusionists – Live from Broadway.” Buy one, get one tickets on all price levels can be purchased beginning Tuesday, May 7 at 10AM through Sunday, May 12 at 3PM. Tickets can be purchased online at luhrscenter.com, or purchase at the Luhrs Center box office by visiting or calling (717) 477-SHOW. Use code “Illusion2019” when purchasing. The H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center is located on the campus of Shippensburg University.

Roxbury

There is public skating at the Blue Mountain Skating Rink on Friday evenings from 7-9 PM. $4 admission and $1 skates. Children under 6 are free and non-skating adults are free as well.

The Lurgan Township ‘Roxbury” Lions Club will be celebrating their 60th year of service to the community on Saturday, May 11 from 9AM – 2PM. Onsite will be emergency service vehicles from Pleasant Hall Fire and Ambulance, health screenings, bounce house, and more. Fair food menu will be available for sale.

Newville/Carlisle

There is a Spring Plant Sale at the John Graham Library in Newville this weekend. Plant sale 3-7PM Friday, 9AM – 1PM Saturday. Music Friday night 5 – 7PM, Saturday all day!

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this week. Showing May 10–May 12 will be Ugly Dolls and Avengers: End Game. Gates open at 7PM. First feature begins at approximately 8:30PM.

Join the Friends of Kings Gap for a Plant Sale on Saturday, May 11, from 10AM to 4PM and Sunday, May 12 from Noon to 4PM. The plant sale includes native plants (perennials, ferns, shrubs, and trees), and a few “naturalized” favorites. Garden Days will feature programs on Butterfly Gardening and Bee Basics, free Kids activities, food stand, and more! The sale is at Kings Gap Environmental Education Center, 500 Kings Gap Road, Carlisle.

Chambersburg

The Franklin County Public Safety Training Center is having an open house on May 11, from 10AM to 2PM. Come out and meet local emergency services personnel, including police, fire, EMS, and others. Tour the training center and get hands-on with several pieces of emergency services equipment used to protect our communities. Several demonstrations will be conducted throughout the day.

There will be a free Pokemon Detective Pikachu in-store Target event on May 11, 10AM – 1PM. Enjoy a promo card & poster giveaway and more.

Mont Alto

There will be a Tractor, Truck, Car, Semi Cruz-In on Saturday May 11, 2019 at the Mont Alto Events Complex. Come share your favorite car, truck, semi, or tractor with everyone from Noon-4PM. The $10 per person ALL DAY admission includes the tractor pull starting at 6PM.

Mercersburg

Mercersburg Springfest will be Saturday, May 11, from 9AM to 3PM. The event will feature a variety of crafters, artisans, jewelers, food vendors, civic groups and local businesses. “Kids Korner” will be on the Mercersburg Elementary campus, and will feature a wide variety of activities for all ages, including: moonbounce, rock-climbing wall, pony rides, and much more.

In celebration of Mother’s Day, Whitetail Golf Resort is offering all moms a FREE round of golf and a FREE Special Grille Feature (Waldorf chicken salad pita & drink) on May 12. Harrisburg/Hershey

Mom jumps free at Sky Zone Harrisburg this Mother’s Day, May 12, 10AM – 4PM. Enjoy family time at Sky Zone while mom gets treated to complimentary jump time.

Moms are admitted free to Hershey Gardens on Mother’s Day Weekend (Saturday May 11 & Sunday May 12). Hershey Gardens is open from 9AM-5PM and offers 11 themed gardens, including the Children’s Garden, and the indoor Butterfly Atrium.

Moms will receive FREE admission to The Hershey Story, The Museum on Chocolate Avenue on Mother’s Day Weekend from 9AM to 5PM.

The AACA Museum, Inc. is honoring all Mom’s this Mother’s Day, May 12, by providing complimentary admission to the Antique Automobile Club of America museum. The first 100 Mothers will also receive a complimentary rose while supplies last.

On Sunday, May 12 from 9AM – 5PM mothers receive free admission to the National Civil War Museum. The National Civil War Museum is located at One Lincoln Circle at Reservoir Park in Harrisburg and is a nonprofit educational institution created to promote the preservation of information directly relevant to the American Civil War of 1861–1865.

On Mother’s Day, May 12, all mothers skate free at Twin Ponds, including skate rentals. Public skating on Mother’s Day is 2PM – 4PM.

Tipton

At Delgrosso’s Park & Laguna Splash, all Mom’s get an All Day Fun Pass for FREE on May 12. Must get free wristband at ticket booth.

Pittsburgh

Bring your Mom to the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium for Mother’s Day! All Moms receive free admission when accompanied by a child on May 12, 9AM – 5PM.

Hagerstown, MD

On Mother’s Day from 1-6PM, Mom’s Bowl Free (including shoe rental) at Turner Bowling Centers with a guest paying regular price. Turner Bowling Centers has three locations. Find them in Hagerstown, MD at 1350 Dual Highway (Dual Lanes) and 17325 Virginia Ave. (Southside Bowl). They also have a location at 3485 Winchester Ave. Martinsburg WV 25405 (Pikeside Bowl).

Washington D.C.

The European Union Open House in Washington DC will be May 11. Visitors to the European Union (EU) Delegation and the embassies of the EU member states will enjoy the authentic music, dance, food, film, and art of 28 distinctive nations. Each EU embassy will open their doors to the public from 10AM until 4PM, offering a rare look inside the buildings.There is no charge to participate in European Union Embassy Open House and tickets are not required. It is recommended that you take a form of government-issued identification with you.
