Get ready to feel merry and bright as Shippensburg kicks off these annual holiday events on Friday, November 19, 2021.
Shippensburg Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting
The annual Shippensburg Christmas Parade will take place November 19, at 7 PM. Sponsored by the Downtown Organizations Investing Together (D.O.I.T), the parade will feature marching bands, school groups, church youth groups, Boy and Girl Scouts, businesses and other organizations, reindeer, and Santa Claus.
The theme is “Toyland 2021 – The New Beginning.” Organizers are encouraging participants to use their imaginations and envision a Toyland in modern times.
The parade procession will begin on N. Fayette Street to King Street and continue north for several blocks to Prince Street for the tree lighting. The tree lighting ceremony will be held directly after the parade at Prince Street and King Street.
Registration is open here, and the deadline to register is November 15. There are no registration fees.
Shippensburg Christmas Market
A Christmas Market will take place Friday evening, November 19, at Shippensburg First Church of God Annex at the corner of Prince & King Street. The holiday market is hosted by the Shippensburg First Church of God’s Outreach and features food and holiday vendors beginning at 5 PM. Featured holiday-related vendors include local small businesses, Fisher’s Greenhouse, Lollipop Shop, Glow Getter, Robert T. Henry Pharmacy, and the Vintage Buckle. Other vendors include Dave Bodah’s Wood Creations, Designs by Pyne, Bryce Barnes Realtor, R&M Creations, Nancy’s Crochet Creations, Mel & Liz’s Sensational Scentsy, Knits by Wilma, Katydid’s Corner, Baked Goodies by Brooke, Country Girl Design, Jodi Wolfe (local author), The Farmer’s Daughter’s Flowers, Creations from Wood by Jeff, Hair Accessories by Becca, Hand Knit by Carol, Lehman’s Mamma-Mia Memories & More, Townsend Arts of Love, Wreaths Across America – Boys Scout Troup #120, and more.
Additionally, after the parade, there will be children’s activities, a Happy Birthday Jesus celebration, Santa visits, and live reindeer. Benchfield Farms’ horse-drawn wagon rides can be picked up on N. Penn Street near Orrstown Bank after the Shippensburg Christmas Parade. The rides are FREE (sponsored by Patriot Federal Credit Union).
