Dykeman Spring Park’s Duck Pond & Nature Trails

One of the little treasures in Shippensburg is the Duck Pond at Shippensburg Borough’s Dykeman Spring Park. Dykeman Park is a fifty-acre area surrounding Dykeman Springs, a National Historic Register landmark. There are picnic areas and park benches. It is a cheap outing and gets the kids outdoors, active, and moving! Park hours are sunrise to sunset.

The Dykeman Park has three trails. Enjoy a stroll on the Dykeman Walking Trail, which wraps around the Spring pond and winds through the wetland areas. There are two additional trails, The Meadow Trail and Upland Trail, to enjoy. The Meadow Trail (moderate) is the longest and provides a path to First Assembly of God Church on Baltimore Road. The Dykeman Park Upland Trail (more difficult) travels through primarily wooded areas and some meadows.

Ship Saves enjoyed the milder winter temperature today and enjoyed a leisurely walk around the pond. Here are a few scenery photos from today’s visit.

The Shippensburg Fly Fishing Club provides containers to use for the feed machines. The pellets are $.25.
