Shippensburg

Katie’s Place Thrift Shop, corner of S. Penn and E. Garfield Streets is open this weekend with a Spring Sale (lots of BOGO Sales). Shop Friday and Saturday, April 8 & 9, from 9 AM-Noon. 


The Shippensburg Area Middle School will present Disney’s Frozen Jr. on April 7 & 8 at 7 PM and on April 9 at 2 PM & 7 PM in the SAMS Auditorium. Reserved tickets may be purchased in advance in the SAMS lobby on April 5 & 6 from 5 PM – 7 PM. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students/seniors. Children under five are free.


 

The Ridge Church of the Brethren, 1095 Ridge Road, Shippensburg, hosts an Easter Event on Saturday, April 9 at 10 AM. The Easter Celebration for ages Pre-K to 5th grade includes a devotional, egg hunt, food, and a visit from the Easter Bunny.


All area children are invited to the 40th annual Shippensburg University Children’s Fair on Saturday, April 9, from 10 AM to 1 PM at Heiges Field House. This community event features games, crafts, music, and prizes for children of all ages. Admission (and all the fun) is free for families and guests. The event is made possible by student, faculty, and staff volunteers and is sponsored by the university’s First-Year Experience and Community Engagement Office.


The Shippensburg University football team will play their annual “Red-White” Spring Game on Saturday, April 9, at Noon at SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium. This is a family-friendly event with free admission for all fans. Tailgating will be permitted before the game, beginning at 10 AM on the practice field behind the stadium. In addition, the SU Marching Band will perform at select points during the day.


Parsons Interstate Ford Shippensburg invites you to their Drive-Thru Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 9, at 1 PM! Parsons Ford will give out over 1,000 Easter eggs in pre-packaged bags. Eggs will be distributed to each vehicle in a drive-thru line. Please stay inside your car at all times. Random bags will have prize eggs inside, and eggs will be handed out while supplies last—one bag per child.


Kathy Hewitt and the STCC Park and Rec Department will be hosting The Christmas Project Vendor Show on Saturday, April 9, from 9 AM – 1 PM outdoors at the STCC Park, 180 Airport Road. The event includes vendors including food trucks, the Easter bunny, face-painting, and animal balloons.


A Food Truck Festival is planned for Sunday, April 10, from 11 AM to 4 PM to raise funds for a new Shippensburg community pool. This festival will take place in Memorial Park—on the path behind the current pool. Food trucks include Bantam Coffee Roasters, Chameleon 1648 Culinary Services, Creekview Food Company, Jack and Joan’s Hand Popped Kettle Corn, Redneck Dogs, Bentwood Smokers BBQ, and Rob Smiley’s House of Smoke. The Friends of Memorial Park Pool will be selling water, soda, pies, and other baked goods.


Roxbury

There will be a Spring Craft & Vendor Show at the Lurgan Township Lions Club (Roxbury) on Saturday, April 9. The event has free admission, and you can shop fifty vendors (craft/food/gifts) from 8 AM to 2 PM. A food stand is available to purchase breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks.


There is public skating at the Blue Mountain Skating Rink on Friday evenings from 7-9 PM. $4 admission and $1 skates. Children under 6 are free and non-skating adults are free as well. The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, on Rt 641.


Biglerville

Taylor’s Greenhouse, located behind the South Mountain Fairground at 265 Fairgrounds Rd., Biglerville, PA, is now open for the season. On Saturday, April 9, and Sunday, April 10, from 10 AM – 4 PM, they host a Butterfly Weekend featuring Folk’s Butterfly Farm and their walk-in flight house full of live butterflies. Patrons will be able to enter the flight house, feed the butterflies, take pictures, and view all butterfly life cycle stages while in the enclosure. New this year: You may pre-purchase tickets and select a time slot for your desired day by calling 717-677-7471. Tickets will also be available onsite both days but are limited to timeslots that were not prepurchased. Ticket cost is $4 for ages four and up with three and under free. Farm Show Milkshakes will be at the Greenhouse from 10 AM – 3 PM both days!


Newville

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is opening for its 70th season this weekend! Showing on April 8 & 9 will be “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” and “The Lost City.” Gates open at 7 PM. The first feature begins at approximately 8 PM. Admission: $10 for adults, $4 for children ages 3-12, free for children under 3. Credit cards are accepted.


Chambersburg/Carlisle

Get a FREE photo of your pet with the Easter Bunny at PetSmart. This event takes place on April 9, between 12 Noon and 3 PM. To make a reservation, click on PetSmart’s Easter Bunny page, enter your zip code and select a time. Once you get to the event and check in for your appointment, you’ll receive a golden egg scratcher card, and apparently, everyone wins. Our closest PetSmart stores are 971 Norland Ave, Chambersburg, PA, and 248 Westminister Drive, Carlisle, PA 17013-3117.


Chambersburg

A Smith’s Chicken BBQ to benefit the Shippensburg Greyhound Softball players will be held at the Franklin Hardware & Pet Center at 1975 Philadelphia Ave, Chambersburg, on Sunday, April 10, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Meal ($14) includes 1/2 chicken, baked potato, baked beans, roll with butter, and applesauce or macaroni salad.


A Drive-Thru Easter Parade hosted by the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren, 260 S. 4th St. is Saturday, April 9 from 10 AM to 11 AM. Drive-thru for a bag of Easter goodies including candy!


All are welcome to an Egg Hunt and Easter Fun on April 9 at the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring at 10 AM. This family event will take place outdoors in the parking lot at the church on 221 N Main Street, Chambersburg. Easter fun includes the Easter message, crafts, games, and an egg hunt. 


Carlisle

On Saturday, April 9, from Noon to 3 PM, Georgie Lou’s Retro Candy will be offering the 9th Downtown Carlisle Bunny Hop. This day of spring fun will center around a downtown-wide activity for children 12 and under, who will frolic from business to business collecting treats. Families are encouraged to dress in their “Sunday Best” to make the day more festive. A map of participating locations will be available online only, and participants can start wherever they want along the route. Each participating location will also have a sign indicating they are a stop for the event.


Marion

Marion First United Methodist Church at 94 Colorado Street, Marion, will host a Community Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 9, beginning at 9:30 AM. This event is rain or shine. There will be fun activities from 9:30 AM – 10 AM, followed by an Egg Hunt and Prizes at 10 AM.


Mont Alto

Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Company hosts an All You Can Eat Breakfast this Saturday, April 9, from 7 AM to 10 AM. The menu includes scrambled eggs, home fries, pancakes, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, biscuits, toast, milk, juice, and coffee. Adults $10, 5 – 12 $5, and 4 and under free. The breakfast is held in the fire company’s social hall at 517 S. Main Street, Mont Alto.


Waynesboro

Otterbein Church invites children Grade 5 and under to hunt for eggs on Saturday, April 9. The OC Easter Egg Hunt will take place at Otterbein Recreational Park on Welty Rd. in Waynesboro. Bring a bag or basket and come early! The egg hunt with over 18,000 filled eggs will begin promptly at 11 AM.


The Quincy Panthers will host an Easter Egg Hunt at the Quincy Community Ox Roast Grounds, 8098 Anthony Highway, on Sunday, April 10. The gates open at 2 PM, and the egg hunt starts at 3 PM. This special event is for ages 12 and under. The Quincy Panthers will have beverages available for purchase.


Rouzerville Fish and Game Association’s Fishing Rodeo takes place at Red Run Park on Saturday, April 9, at 8 AM. Red Run Lake is closed Friday, April 8, for fish stocking. Registration is one hour prior. This free event with prizes is open to all youth ages 3-15. The rain date is April 10.


 

Celebrate the annual opening of Renfrew for its 47th operating season on Saturday, April 9, 10 AM to 4 PM. Activities include tours, horse-drawn wagon rides, historical demonstrations, a family fun area, and more on the 107-acre historic Pennsylvania German farmstead in Waynesboro. The Visitors Center gift shop and exhibit galleries will also be open along with the Royer farmstead outbuildings for all to enjoy. Renfrew Museum and Park are located at 1010 E. Main Street, Waynesboro.


The 26th Spring Kite Fly is Saturday, April 9, from 11 AM to 2 PM. Free kite flying (all ages) with expert flying help from Kite Masters—brothers Sam and George Adams—in the fields adjacent to Hooverville Elementary School in Waynesboro. Bring your kite. Build a Kite workshop is ongoing; all welcome; $1 materials donation for the workshop.


Orrtanna

Mister Ed’s Elephant Museum & Candy Emporium’s free annual Bunny Party and Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday, April 9, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Unfortunately, this event is now sold out (we previously shared this event, so this is a reminder for those who signed up). Mister Ed’s is halfway between Gettysburg and Chambersburg along the historic Lincoln Highway (Route 30) at 6019 Chambersburg Road, Orrtanna.


Gettysburg

Land of Little Horses is now open for the Spring season. The 100-acre farm park will open on Saturdays and Sundays through May 29. Then, beginning May 30, they are open seven days a week through Labor Day. At Land of Little Horses, you will find miniature horses, ponies, horses, a camel, alpacas, sheep, goats, deer, peacocks, pigs, and more! In addition, the arena show, The Mane Event, features performing animals. For pricing, visit their website. Hours are 10 AM – 5 PM.


Hop to the Outlet Shoppes of Gettysburg for some Easter fun on Saturday, April 9, from Noon to 3 PM. At the Gazebo will be the Easter Bunny, Balloon Artists, and special guest mascots Unicorn and Baby Shark. You may receive a free child’s id courtesy of New York Life. In addition, complimentary Carriage Rides will be offered at the food court (pickup and drop-off location). If inclement weather, the gazebo events will be held in the food court.


Halifax

Lake Tobias offers a drive-thru safari tour on select weekends in April. Visitors are invited to stay in their own vehicles as they drive through the safari field and see the animals. Take a tour of the safari fields between 10 AM and 3 PM on April 9 & 10, 16, 23 & 24, 2022. The price of the pre-season drive-thru is $8 per person ages three and up. Admission to the park is not an option as the zoo’s exhibits are open for the season on May 1, 2022. Read more about the event on the Lake Tobias website HERE. Lake Tobias Wildlife Park is located at 760 Tobias Drive in Halifax, just off Route 225 in central Pennsylvania near Fisherville.


Hershey

Hersheypark Springtime in the Park features 40 rides, entertainment, games, and food on three weekends, April 2-3, April 9-10 & 15-17. Hours are 11 AM to 7 PM. Note:  Hershey Park is now a cashless venue. All major credit cards, Hersheypark gift cards, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay will be accepted. For ticket prices, go here. Tickets to the park also include access to ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park. Springtime in the Park parking fee is $20 for regular passenger vehicles purchased online or $25 in person at the parking booth.
