Get Outdoors (GO) Program is in Six Central PA Counties
WellSpan Health has partnered with libraries across South Central Pennsylvania for its Get Outdoors (GO) program. The GO hiking and summer reading program allows families to follow written clues to locate wooden posts that have been hidden in local and state parks in six counties in Central Pennsylvania.
All ages, children, teens, and adults, are encouraged to participate.
For more information, each participating county, Adams, Cumberland, York, Lancaster, Franklin, and Lebanon, has a dedicated GO website, including directions to parks, information on prizes, and clues to find the wooden posts. Visit your local library to receive a guidebook (called a Wayfinder) and a rubbing sheet that you can use to record your discoveries. You can also download the information on each of the GO websites.
Once families find the anchor and the etching with the code, you may log the code online into a digital app called Beanstack to receive credit for the hike. Participating children have a chance to win prizes once the program wraps up later this summer.
Since Shippensburg, PA is in both Cumberland and Franklin Counties; you may wish to explore parks in both counties! See the photos below for all the Franklin and Cumberland counties parks with an anchor.
