Mister Ed’s Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium is always a great local stop for both young and old.
The candy room has an excellent selection of sweets, from homemade fudge and chocolates to retro candy.
In addition, the shop specializes in roasted nuts. Virginia jumbo peanuts are roasted fresh weekly (light, dark, regular) in small batches on an antique roaster. Cinnamon glazed nuts are delicious and come in a cone of almonds, cashews, or pecans. The store also sells unique gifts, including Mister Ed’s merchandise. Purchase a mug, fill it with loose candy for no extra charge (they will wrap it pretty), or fill a bucket with candy and pay $6.99/lb.
There is no charge to explore the gardens or to walk through the museum room. Inside the museum, you will find an extensive collection of elephants.
The grounds around Mister Ed’s are filled with wonder. You will find enchanting gardens with numerous whimsical creatures and sculptures, Miss Pat’s Teapot Museum, lily ponds, and more elephants.
Upcoming community events hosted by Mister Ed’s include the Great Pumpkin Party and Santa Party. The events are free and are geared toward children. No registration is necessary.
Children can paint a pumpkin on Saturday, October 15, 2022, during the Great Pumpkin Party. Attendees can also watch as a master pumpkin carver turns giant pumpkins into works of spooky art. Then, purchase a raffle ticket benefiting the Adams County SPCA, and you might win a carved giant pumpkin.
Santa comes to Mister Ed’s during the Santa Party on Sunday, November 27, 2022. Donate non-perishable food items, and receive Santa Bucks to use as cash in the store.
Mister Ed’s is located at 6019 Chambersburg Road, Orrtanna, PA, between Gettysburg and Chambersburg. Summer hours are 9 AM – 7 PM daily.
