Potential Wawa in Shippensburg’s Future
Wawa or Sheetz? Shippensburg residents may soon get to decide!
Wawa is planning on coming to Shippensburg at the lot (Swidler property) across from H&H Chevrolet in Cumberland County. The Borough Manager shared Wawa’s intent to come to Shippensburg at a recent Borough Council Meeting. According to the minutes, the convenience store will have a carwash and a total lube.
Site approvals can take several months or longer. Wawa does not confirm a location until construction begins, which helps avoid disappointment if a planned location does not meet their needs.
Potential Site Location: 710 E. King Street (Walnut Bottom Road)
Wawa is a chain of convenience stores and gas stations located along the East Coast of the United States, operating in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Florida. The Wawa chain is planning a significant expansion in central Pennsylvania. The company announced that it plans to double its store count in the next three to five years, with up to 40 stores planned in the region.
