Shippensburg/Roxbury

The Vintage Buckle Boutique at 140 W Orange Street, Shippensburg, is having a Summer Blow Out Sale on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Thursday – 40% off entire store, Friday – 40% off entire store, Saturday – 50% off entire store.


The Book Nook is a used book store with great bargains. It is located adjacent to the Coy Public Library parking lot off West King Street. The July sale is Buy One, Get One FREE!


Mountainside Market, a homemade/produce market, takes place at the Roxbury Lions Club grounds every Saturday from 8 AM to 1 PM throughout the summer.


Katie’s Place Thrift Shop, corner of S. Penn and E. Garfield Streets, is open this weekend. Shop Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, July 14, 15, & 16 from 9 AM-Noon.


Fayetteville

The Cumberland Valley Chapter of the National Railroad Historical Society will host summer train rides at Guilford Township Norlo Park on Saturday, July 16. The miniature train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, will operate from 1 – 4 PM. The last train boards at 3:50 PM. It is open to riders of all ages. Donations are accepted.


Newville/Carlisle

Carlisle Chrysler Nationals is July 15 – 17 at Carlisle Fairgrounds, 1000 Bryn Mawr Road. The event features 2,800 vehicles from all eras of the Chrysler brand, including classics, muscle cars and high-performance new models. In addition, cars, parts, tools, memorabilia, collectibles, and more will be for sale in the Mopar Automotive Flea Market, as well as the latest and greatest products within the Manufacturers Midway.


Meadowbrooke Gourds’ Summer Celebration will be held Saturday, July 16, from 3 PM – 8 PM. Activities include the Oops Sale, Artisans and Crafts, Food Trucks, Drinks, and local classic rock band Mid-Life Crisis. Bring your lawn chairs (live music). Not all venues take credit cards, so bring some cash along.


This weekend (Friday, Saturday, & Sunday), Thor: Love and Thunder and Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be showing at Cumberland Drive-In Theatre. Gates open at 7 PM. The first feature begins at approximately 9 PM. You may reserve your space here.


On Sundays in July, you can take a kayak around Doubling Gap Lake at Colonel Denning State Park. This program is geared toward inexperienced/beginner kayakers and takes place every Sunday in July between 11 AM to 2 PM. Kayak, paddles, and life jackets are all provided for free – all you need to bring is yourself. Kayaks are limited, so first-come, first-serve. To reserve a kayak for 11 AM, 12 PM, or 1 PM, please call the office at (717) 776-5272, or visit the park office. Otherwise, you can drop by and see if a kayak is available. There is no age restriction, but for children under 12, parental supervision is required while they kayak. There are a few double kayaks available. Colonel Denning State Park is located at 1599 Doubling Gap Rd., Newville, PA 17241-9756.


Chambersburg

Teenagers entering 6th through 10th grade are invited to the Chambersburg Aquatic Center for Teen Night on July 16 from 8 PM to 10 PM! Enjoy time in the pool as well as glow golf. Cost $6 or $4 Chambersburg Borough residents.


 

The Franklin County Fair continues through Saturday, July 16, at the Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club grounds at 3725 Warm Spring Road. Admission to the county fair is free with a $5-per-vehicle parking fee from 4 PM – 9 PM Thursday and a $10-per-vehicle parking fee 3 PM – 9 PM Friday and Saturday. Food stands are open 10 AM to 10 PM daily. Entertainment includes The Reagan Years – 80s Tribute Band (Thursday, July 15 at 7 PM and 9 PM) and Park Avenue (Saturday, July 17 at 7 PM). Arena events include the Bullride Mania (Sheep Riding, Stick Horse Races, Girl’s Barrels, and Bull Riding) on Saturday, July 16, at 7:30 PM. A Truck and Tractor Pulls will be held Friday at 6:30 PM. Children will enjoy a Magician & Balloon Artist Monday through Friday at 6:30 PM and Saturday at 2 PM and 6:30 PM. Other children’s events include a Bounce & Play Zone, Baby Barnyard, and Critter Connections.


The Summer Concerts at Chambersburg Memorial Park Kiwanis Band Shell are free and continue all summer. So bring your favorite chairs and blankets, food, and non-alcoholic beverages, and pick a spot on the lawn to enjoy local acts from the region. Most concerts are Thursdays and Sundays beginning at 7 PM and are one 1-hour in length. View the dates HERE.


Head to the North Square Farmers Market at Chambers Fort Park in downtown Chambersburg between 8 AM and Noon (this Saturday it is extended until 3 PM) on Saturdays. Fresh veggies, baked goods, meats, cheeses, flowers, pizza, breakfast sandwiches, chicken meals, live music, etc.


ChambersFest 2022 wraps up on Saturday with a full day of events in Downtown Chambersburg. Saturday, July 16, is Old Market Day. The annual street festival with arts, crafts, and food vendors runs from 9 AM to 4 PM on Main Street in downtown Chambersburg.

After Old Market Day is the Burning of Chambersburg reenactment. Activities begin at 7 PM with the final round of musical competition, A Cappella & Unplugged, followed by the Burning of Chambersburg Reenactment at the 11/30 Visitors Center, 15 S. Main St. As darkness approaches, the town will transform into 1864, and the story of the town’s ransoming, burning, and rebirth will come to life with atmospheric effects, lights, and actors.

 


On Saturday, July 16, from 10 AM to 2 PM, bring your vehicle to Pond Bank Independent Church at 6704 White Rock Road, Chambersburg for a Free Car Wash!


 

 

 

Join Francis Drost (piano) and Kirstin Myers (oboe/English horn) at The Inn at Ragged Edge on Sunday, July 17 at 3:00 PM for Christmas in July Musical Notes & Root Beer Floats. Be the first to hear music from the upcoming Christmas 2022 album! Mingle with the artists and enjoy a root beer float after the concert. Price: $50 per seat, which is payable at the door.  Fort Loudon

Chase-ing the Dream, an auction and benefit for Chase Andrews, is July 16 from 9 AM to 3 PM at The Goldfish Barn, 11436 Lincoln Way West, Fort Loudon. The event includes a live auction, silent auction, bake sale, kid’s games, and food trucks. Kids’ activities and entertainment are $7/child.

Dillsburg

The Blueberry Festival at Mt Airy Orchards on July 16, 7 AM – 1 PM, benefits Ecumenical Food Pantry in Harrisburg. Come for the Pancake Breakfast ($9.99 per person, 7–11 AM) and stay through the day for over 60 arts and crafts booths, JazzMe Band (9:30 AM – 12:30 PM), and pick-your-own berries. PlayLand Admission is $7.99 for general admission or $9.99 for enhanced admission. 


Biglerville/Gettysburg

Pick-your-own blueberries at Boyer Nurseries & Orchards. Bring containers to take your harvest home. Cash, check, and all forms of credit cards are accepted. Boyer Nurseries & Orchards also has an evergreen hedge maze you can explore for free.


Beyond

Enjoy half-price admission on Friday evenings at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, MD. Thanks to M&T Bank, visitors can enjoy half-price admission to the Aquarium Friday nights after 5 PM. Tickets are available online or Friday evenings onsite. Guests may tour up to 90 minutes after the last entry. The National Aquarium has more than 20,000 fish, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and marine mammals living in award-winning habitats.


Open Airplane Day is Saturday, July 16, 9 AM – 4 PM. Bring the family to the Hagerstown Aviation Museum Fairchild Aircraft Dome Hangar to climb aboard museum aircraft and see history exhibits. There will be a breakfast available from 9 AM to 11 AM. The event address is 14211 Basore Drive, Hagerstown, MD.


At Lake Tobias Wildlife Park, on July 16 & 17, is a special event Wild Days Weekend. This year’s activities include Animal Encounters, Zookeeper Talks, Treat Feedings, Pony Rides, and Face Painting (see graphic for times).
