SHIPPENSBURG

Jam In The Park at Shippensburg Township Park on Britton Road benefits the Cumberland Valley Breast Cancer Alliance. Come for a fun-filled family day in the park on Saturday, September 24, featuring local bands, vendors, food trucks, Mel’s Car Show, a cornhole tournament, and more! Gates will open at 10:30 AM and will close at 10 PM. Bring lawn chairs and canopies as this is a rain or shine event. Tickets are $10 per person, with ages eight and under free.

Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce, DOIT, and SADCO have joined forces for the Beer and Wine Festival in Shippensburg. On September 24, enjoy samplings from various breweries, wineries & distilleries, food trucks, vendors, live music, small games of chance, and cornhole. Attendees must be 21 years or older, and ID is required. The event will be held at the Shippensburg Fairgrounds from 1 PM – 5 PM. For tickets, go here.

Middle Spring Watershed Association will host its Stream Day, an open event for the entire community. On Saturday, September 24, from 9 AM until 1 PM, head to Branch Creek Children’s Park on Burd Street for educational activities.  The event ends with a Rubber Duck Derby (Noon).

Lonestar is at the H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center at Shippensburg University on September 24 at 7:30 PM.

There is a Horse Training Demonstration (with Trainer David Reihl) on the Nolt Farm at 762 Mud Level Road, Shippensburg, on September 24 from 8 AM until 4 PM. No admission fee.  The day includes young horse training, problem horse training, and riding and driving horse training, along with respect, trust, and how to form a positive relationship between horse and hander. Lunch is available.

PLEASANT HALL/ORRSTOWN

Lurgan Greenhouse will be holding its Fall Event & Customer Appreciation Days on Thursday, September 22, 8 AM – 6 PM, Friday, September 23, 8 AM – 6 PM, and Saturday, September 24, 8 AM – 5 PM. There will be door prizes, coffee, cider, donuts, chips, and bargain buy door-busters.

Franklin Fall Farm Fun Fest is a free event held every fall on a Franklin County farm to showcase agriculture. This year, tour Hollow Acres Farm on Saturday, September 24. Hollow Acres Farm, owned and operated by Ron and Amy Wenger, is located at 6867 Upper Strasburg Road, Pleasant Hall. All activities are free. There is no admission or parking fee. There will be children’s activities, farm wagon tours, free milk, free ice cream, & more from 10 AM – 3 PM. There will be lunch available for purchase at the FFA Food stand. The Franklin County Farm Bureau sponsors Franklin Farm Fall Fun Fest.

NEWVILLE/CARLISLE

 

Meadowbrooke Gourds’ fifth annual Sunflower Festival offers free to pick your own sunflowers. On September 24 and September 25, from 10 AM to 6 PM, enjoy fifty acres of sunflowers, a ride on Trevor’s Trolley for a scenic tour ($5), food trucks, and a Gourd Oops Sale. Warehime’s Pumpkin patch is just down the road with pumpkins and a corn maze.

The last Tractor Pull of the year hosted by Cumberland Valley Tractor Pullers Association at Newville Lions Club Fairgrounds is September 24, at 6:30 PM. Gate admission is $10, with children 12 and under free.

Bent Pine Alpaca Farm in Carlisle is hosting an open house on Sunday, September 25, from 10 AM until 4 PM. Entry and parking are free. Meet and feed alpacas, enjoy a hayride, see antique tractors, and shop at the Alpaca store and craft and food vendors. In addition, there will be an Alpaca Youth Showmanship & Obstacle Competition at 10:30 AM. Bent Pine Alpaca Farm is located at 65 Old Stonehouse Road South, Carlisle, PA  17015.

CHAMBERSBURG/FAYETTEVILLE

Saturday mornings are Market Day. Head to the North Square Farmers Market at Chambers Fort Park in downtown Chambersburg between 8 AM and Noon. Fresh veggies, baked goods, meats, cheeses, flowers, pizza, breakfast sandwiches, chicken meals, live music, etc (vendors subject to change).

Windy Knoll on Spring Road in Chambersburg will host Finger Lickin’ Eats-n-Sweets for a Chicken BBQ on Saturday, September 24, beginning at 10:30 AM until sold out. Leg & Thigh $4.50; Breast $5.50; Leg & Thigh Meal $8.99; Breast Meal $9.99.

Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department will host a Jeep Show on Saturday, September 24, from 9 AM until 1:30 PM on the carnival grounds at 101 West Main Street, Fayetteville. All Jeeps welcome. Registration information is here.

Fall Fest at Hip Gypsy Emporium is Saturday, September 24, from 10 AM – 5 PM. Celebrate Fall with Vendors (craft, artisans, upcyclers), Food Trucks, and Live Music (1 PM – 4 PM). Hip Gypsy Emporium is at 2168 Mont Alto Rd, Chambersburg (look for the VW out front).

GREENCASTLE

Ralph’s Recipe Chicken Barbecue will be held on Saturday, September 24, 9 AM – 1 PM (or until sold out) in the parking lot of Greencastle Bronze & Granite, 400 N. Antrim Way, Greencastle, PA (the northwest corner of the intersection of U.S. Route 11 and W. Walter Avenue.) Chicken halves, full meals, and homemade baked goods will be available. The proceeds will benefit Guiding Hands Preschool, a ministry supported by Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church.

WAYNESBORO

Visit alpacas on Saturday, September 24, from 10:30 AM to 4 PM, or Sunday, September 25, from 1:30 PM to 4 PM at Sugar Hollow Farm Alpacas in Waynesboro. There is no admission fee. The Sugar Shacktheir farm storewill have holiday gifts such as socks, sweaters, hats, mittens, felted soap, teddy bears, and more for sale. Sugar Hollow Farm Alpacas is located at 9955 Masters Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.

 

MERCERSBURG

The 43rd annual Mercersburg Townfest is September 24 from 9 AM – 3 PM in downtown Mercersburg. The event, hosted by the Tuscarora Area Chamber of Commerce, is a one-day festival that attracts many crafters, artisans, jewelers, food vendors, civic groups, and local businesses. BIGLERVILLE/FAIRFIELD/GETTYSBURG

Pippinfest is a two-day festival on Saturday, September 24 & Sunday, September 25, in Fairfield, PA. Enjoy fun for the entire family at this old-time country street festival featuring Arts and Crafts vendors, Apple products, Live music, a Cruise-In Show & Swap Meet (Sunday), Community yard sales (Saturday), Children’s inflatables, Quilt Show, and Demonstration, Great food, and more. On September 24, from 7 AM – 4 PM, browse the Gettysburg Outdoor Antique Show. It features items from more than 120 antique dealers and collectors. The event is held on Carlisle, Chambersburg, Baltimore, York Streets, and Lincoln Square, all in Historic Downtown Gettysburg.

Recurring Fall Events

CHAMBERSBURG: Country Creek Produce Farm is home to Fall fun. Weekend admission is $12 per person. Attractions include a Corn Maze, Hay Pyramid, Jump Pads, Zip Lines, Mountain Slides, Rat Racers, Swingers, Duck Races, Live Animal Petting Zoo, Football Toss, Corn Hole, Pedal Cart Track, and more!

MERCERSBURG: Stoner’s Dairy Farm and Corn Maze offer plenty of weekend Fall farm activities for any age. Attractions include the 5-acre Corn Maze, Mini Maze, Hayride, Petting Zoo, Jump Pad, Pedal Cart Track, and Play Areas. For an additional fee, enjoy the Scarecrow Factory, Barrel Cart Train Ride, Pumpkins, Mums, Fall decor, Ice Cream, and other Snack Bar Treats. Hours: Saturday 12-10 PM, Sunday 12-5 PM, Friday (beginning September 30) 7-10 PM Admission: $8/person general admission fee, $4/person Seniors age 60+ and Active Military with ID, Ages 3 & under FREE. Stoner’s Dairy is a short drive off I-81 at 7678 Oellig Road in Mercersburg.

NEWVILLE: Maple Lane Farm’s Corn Maze in Newville is open weekends through October 29. This year’s design celebrates the Future Farmers of America (FFA). Quick Facts: Hours: Saturdays from 1 PM – 7 PM, Sundays from 1 PM-6 PM. Cost: $9 per person; ages five and younger are free. Cash and major credit cards are accepted. MANHEIM: The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire is held on the grounds of the Mount Hope Estate. The stages of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire come to life with scores of unique entertainers, including musicians, magicians, comedy acts, and more!
