The Pennsylvania Farm Show is January 7 – 14. Each year Pennsylvania celebrates agriculture during this mid-winter event at the Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg. The PA Farm Show is the largest indoor agricultural exposition in the nation and features nearly 4,000 animals, 12,000-plus competitive events and exhibits, 245 commercial exhibits, and hundreds of educational and entertaining events. It will include favorites like the 1,000-pound butter sculpture, food court, cooking demonstrations, and hands-on agriculture education opportunities.
The 2023 show runs January 7 -14 from 8 AM to 9 PM daily, except Sunday, January 8, when it runs 8 AM to 8 PM, and Saturday, January 14, when it opens at 8 AM and closes at 5 PM. The Food Court in the Expo Hall will be open from Noon to 9 PM on Friday, January 6. No other areas or events are open to the public that day.
Admission is free, and parking is $15 in all Farm Show complex lots (credit card only). The Food Court, one of the most popular Farm Show attractions, is located in the Expo Hall and the Main Hall of the complex and offers a wide variety of Pennsylvania-grown and made products. This year the PA Dairymen’s Association’s milkshake flavors will be orange cream, chocolate, vanilla, and the choco-nilla mix.
Most events and activities are free. However, there are admission charges for the PRCA rodeos on January 12, 13, and 14 and goat cuddling and yoga in the New Holland Arena Concourse, Merry-Go-Round in the Main Hall, fishing experience in the East Hall, and the Butterfly House and kids’ tractor ride in the GIANT Expo Hall.
Butterfly House
Feed the butterflies! Folk’s Butterfly Farm will be set up in the Expo Hall (look for the lighted butterfly). Admission is $3 per person; 2 and under are free with an accompanying adult. Find a coupon for $.50 off admission to the Butterfly House for Tuesday & Wednesday HERE. Monday is also FFA day. All FFA Students in official dress and advisors with ID receive admission for $1.
Farm Show AgExplorer Stations
The Farm Show AgExplorer Stations are designed with the entire family in mind. This unique program teaches visitors about Pennsylvania agriculture through fun, interactive, and hands-on learning. Learn about a variety of agriculture commodities at 19 stations, including Goats, Bees and Honey, Pork Industry, Apple Production, PA Preferred, Woodmobile, Equine Science, Dairy Production and Promotion, Alpacas and Fiber, Edible Nuts, Rabbit from Fiber to Meat, Sheep Industry, Poultry Production, 4-H Friends, Potato Productions, Beef from Farm to Fork, Mushrooms, Dairy Farmers of America, and Sunflowers: Seeds to Consume.
