Sailing Through the Winter Solstice | Frederick, MD
The shallow waters at Carroll Creek Park in Downtown Frederick Maryland offer a beautiful display of twenty-eight sailboats. The floating light installation, Sailing Through the Winter Solstice, will be displayed through March 3, 2023. There is no admission fee.
Each sailboat is unique and decorated. Ship Saves visited the boats at night as we wanted to see them lit, but you can also view them during the day. The lights turn on at sunset.
Sailing Through the Winter Solstice is a fundraiser as visitors can vote on their favorite boat, with donations supporting local non-profit organizations.
Frederick, Maryland, has a few public parking garages near the boats. We parked at the closest one, Carroll Creek Public Parking Garage ($1 per hour), at 44 E. Patrick Street, next to the installation.
