ICE! featuring Christmas Around the World at Gaylord National Harbor
Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md., just kicked off its ICE! attraction, featuring a collection of ice sculptures and 2-story tall ice slides. ICE! with its new theme “Christmas Around the World” is open now through January 1, 2017.
More than two million pounds of colorful ice is hand-carved by artisans from Harbin, China. The 9 degrees walk-through exhibit showcases holiday traditions from Germany, the United Kingdom, Mexico and more.
The ICE! experience is held in a tent outside the Gaylord atrium. Visitors walk through the life-size ice sculptures dressed in special long blue parkas that are provided as you enter. Visitors bring their own hats, scarves, and gloves to ensure they stay comfy.
One large room holds ice slides, where visitors can take multiple trips down the slide. Get a sneak peek at this year’s exhibit through the photos below!
There is hall of children from all over the world holding hands.
Visitors travel through the North Pole to the Parade of Toys, where several stuffed animals had been replicated in ice.
Larger than life ornaments!
In the Frostbite Factory, you can watch an ice sculptor at work. Visitors will learn how the attraction is made through colorful sculptures, as well as see an artisan carve live using chainsaws, ice picks and more.
The exhibit ends with a stunning, crystal clear nativity with a beautiful narrative.
ICE!, presented by Pepsi, is part of the annual Christmas on the Potomac celebration, which includes nightly holiday fountain shows with lasers and indoor snowfall, photos with Santa, an indoor train ride and attractions, an Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt, gingerbread decorating, and more.
Hours and pricing vary and details can be found at www.ChristmasOnThePotomac.com. Discount tickets to Ice! can frequently be found on the group buying sites such as Groupon or Living Social. There are also Value Day Rates for non peak days.
