Fastnacht Day is the Pennsylvania Dutch way to celebrate Fat Tuesday! This year, the date is Tuesday, February 13, 2018.
Traditionally Fastnachts are made to use up the lard, sugar, butter, and other rich foods in a house before Lent begins. Some fastnachts are square or diamond-shaped, while others are twisted or round. Some have holes, and some bakers fill fastnachts with cream. No matter how you prefer your fastnacht, you’ll want to purchase some if you are in South Central Pennsylvania!
