Community FREE Day at The National Civil War Museum
The National Civil War Museum will offer free admission on Saturday, Feb. 17 from 10AM – 4PM. The Museum is proud to provide activities and entertainment for the community, completely free of charge to visitors, many of which will highlight topics on Black History Month.
Family Activities:
10 AM – 4 PM: USCT Display & Living History
10 AM – 4 PM: Period clothing station for children & adults to try on and take selfies
10 AM – 4 PM: Coloring Activity Station
10 AM – 4 PM: Living History – Officers for the Union
10 AM – 4 PM: Living History – Ladies for the Union
The Long Hill String Band (10:30 AM, 12:00 PM & 2:00 PM)
Presentations:
11:00 AM: James Hayney – Presents as President Abraham Lincoln
1:00 PM: Dr. Elizabeth R. Varon presents “Joseph T. Wilson’s The Black Phalanx: African American Soldiers and Civil War Memory”
2:30 PM: Tim Hodge portrays Major Martin Robinson Delany, the highest ranking colored officer in the Union Army
The National Civil War Museum is located at One Lincoln Circle at Reservoir Park in Harrisburg and is a nonprofit educational institution created to promote the preservation of information directly relevant to the American Civil War of 1861–1865. The National Civil War Museum incorporates collections of artifacts, manuscripts, documents, photographs, and other printed matter that exceed 24,000 items.
