Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend!

Shippensburg/Newburg/Roxbury

Blue Mountain Skating Rink’s final public skating session for the 2017/18 school year is Friday, May 18 from 7-9PM.

The Local Gathering is hosting a Music Fest with Vendors and Crafts on May 19, Noon – Sunset.  This is an outdoor event so bring your lawn chairs.  Rain or shine.  View more details here.

Maplewood Farm Market is having a Spring Color Fest on May 18 & May 19.  Enjoy free refreshments, deli specials, and 10% off all plants and in stock lawn furniture. 

Paint + Shop on Saturday, May 19, 9AM – 1PM is hosted by Mongul M.O.P.S at Mongul United Brethren, 4162 Roxbury Rd. There will be a variety of vendors, snacks & refreshments, prize drawings and two opportunities to do a Spring watercolor painting.  All proceeds benefit Mongul M.O.P.S, a group to support moms in the community.

Newburg’s Memorial Day events are on Sunday, May 20.  Parade begins at 2PM from Newburg United Methodist Church.

Newville/Carlisle

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is open Friday through Sunday this week.  Showing May 18-May 20 will be Truth or Dare and A Quiet Place.  Gates open at 7PM. First feature begins at approximately 8:40PM.

Penn State Master Gardeners in Cumberland County are holding their annual Plant Fest & Sale on Saturday May 19, 2018 from 8AM to 1PM. The sale will be held at the Penn State Extension Office in Carlisle at 310 Allen Road. All proceeds benefit Penn State Master Gardener educational outreach activities in Cumberland County.

Come out to the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center on Armed Forces Weekend, Saturday, May 19 – Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 9AM to 5PM, for Army Heritage Days! A living history event featuring several hundred reenactors from all eras spread out over the one mile long Army Heritage Trail. Free admission and parking.

The Carlisle Import & Performance Nationals is this weekend, May 18 – 20.  In addition to the imports, this event welcomes domestics, kits cars, motorcycles, and trucks as well. 

Camp Hill/Mechanicsburg

The 46th Annual Greek Festival in Camp Hill is scheduled for Friday, May 18, 11AM – 8PM; Saturday, May 19, 11AM – 8PM; and Sunday, May 20, 11AM – 4PM. Take a tour of the church, watch Greek dancers, stop by the hand-crafted jewelry and artisan booths, and eat a delicious gyro, souvlaki or saganaki! Cash only for food, beverage and Greek grocery store.

The Spring Tractor  & Steam Show will include steam engines, train rides, antique tractors, working saw mill, food, and more.  Steam School — May 19 and 20; Consignment Sale — May 19; Flea Market — May 20
Train Rides — all weekend; Saw Mill operating — May 19 and 20.

Chambersburg

The Chambersburg Community Theatre presents the classic, Oklahoma this weekend, May 18 – 20 at the Capital Theatre in Chambersburg.

At the Chambersburg Mall on May 18 and May 19, there will be a Children’s Expo.  Crafts, Direct Sale Vendors, Activities for Children, and Community Agencies for Family Services.

Come out on Saturday, May 19th for Menno Haven Auxiliary’s Chicken BBQ Sale from 11AM – 2PM at Chambers Pointe (Philadelphia Ave). Smith’s BBQ will be on site preparing a delicious meal to include half a chicken, baked potato, a roll, butter, applesauce and greenbean casserole!  $12 Dinner ($8 Chicken only)

The 34th Annual Book Sale of Friends of Legal Services will be held at Laird Hall at Wilson College on the following dates:  Friday, May 18, 2018: 9AM to 9PM; Saturday, May 19, 2018: 9AM to 5PM;  and Sunday, May 20, 2018: Noon to 4PM.  Over 70,000 books of all types, plus CDs, DVDs, sheet music, puzzles, games, audio books, rare books, and collector’s items, will be on sale at bargain prices.  Free Admission, Free Parking, Food and Drinks Available.

The Master Gardener Plant Sale (181 Franklin Farm Ln) will be one day only, May 19, 9AM – 1PM, rain or shine. Greenhouse and Perennial Sale.  Available will be sun & shade perennials, trees, shrubs, iris, day lilies, herbs and annual flowers. Greenhouse plants will be stream side, too -tomatoes, peppers (sweet & hot) and more. Bring your boxes, wagons and carts. High quality plants locally grown for reasonable prices. Cash or check only.

Greencastle

The Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce will host a spring seasonal marketplace Saturday, May 19, from 9AM to 3PM in and around the square in Greencastle. The focus of the event is to showcase the craftsmanship and skill of local artisans and produce farmers. All items must be hand-crafted, hand-made and Earth-friendly.

Mercersburg

Smith’s Implements, 12258 Buchanan Trail West is hosting their first John Deere Day of Play on May 19, 9AM – Noon.  All activities and refreshments are free. The event features an inflatable bounce castle, inflatable 18’ dual slide, pedal tractor pull, corn pit with toys, barrel tractor rides, hands-on seed planting demonstration, dunking booth, and prizes, giveaways, and more!  The rain date will be May 26, 2018 from 8AM – 11AM.

Gettysburg

More than 120 antique dealers and collectors from the North and the South will converge on in Gettysburg on May 19 from 7AM-4PM.  The antique event is billed as a “buyers and sellers” paradise, with high quality antiques and collectibles. The event is held on Carlisle, Chambersburg, Baltimore and York Streets, along with Lincoln Square, all in Historic Downtown Gettysburg. The show is held rain or shine.
