Upcoming Ice Festivals in Chambersburg & Carlisle

Shippensburg’s neighboring communities will again host Ice Festivals this year! Shake off the cabin fever and mid-winter blues with some frosty fun in downtown Chambersburg or Carlisle.
Chambersburg
January 26 – January 29, 2023
Downtown Chambersburg will host the annual IceFest presented by M&T Bank on January 26 through January 29, 2023. It will feature over 100 custom-designed ice sculptures by DiMartino’s master ice carvers, including the giant ice throne. LED lights will be on the double-wide slide and all the giant ice sculptures. In addition, there will be food vendors on the square, and downtown restaurants and shops will be open with extended hours.
Activities and events will take place along Main Street or just off of it. On Saturday, Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic. Official IceFest activities include:
Ice Slide – take a FREE ride on the 40-foot, LED-lighted double-wide ice slide
Icefest Food – Bricker’s French Fries, Shorty’s Funnel Cakes, Hanson’s Kettle Korn, Shuman’s Concession, and Hillbilly’s Jerky will be set up all four days
live Ice Carvings – Thursday & Friday, Master Carvers will turn ice blocks into amazing sculptures live on Thursday and Friday from 5-8 PM.
Scavenger Hunt – Find the sculptures to answer questions and be entered to win prizes!
Snowfall Ball – Friday, dance the night away
Chili Q – Saturday, a Chili and Pulled Pork Competition
Icing on the Cake – Saturday, view and vote for your favorite cake with the theme, “Alice in Wonderland-Through the Looking Glass.”
Beer Garden – Saturday, outdoor Beer Garden at 81 N. Main Street
Run Your Ice Off 5K – Sunday, end the festival with a 5K

Carlisle
February 3 – 5, 2023
Here is your opportunity to spend a winter day in historic downtown Carlisle.
The 7th annual UPMC Ice Art Festival in Downtown Carlisle will be held on February 3, 4, and 5, 2023. Hosted by the Downtown Carlisle Association, one hundred sculptures will be placed in front of sponsoring businesses and throughout the historic downtown. This is a FREE event with plenty of photo opportunities.
The festival will begin with the UPMC Ice Throne unveiling on Friday, February 3 at 5 PM at Veterans Courtyard at High and Hanover Streets (town square) corner. All sculptures, including the Comfort Suites/1794 Whiskey Rebellion Ice Bar, will be displayed. Stay tuned for a schedule of live carvings.
Marjorie’s Gems will again have a Diamond Dig for a chance to win some bling!
